George Provstgaard Obituary
If this is the only way that I can get my picture in the newspaper, I guess I will have to do it.
I was born September 16, 1930 to George Provstgaard and Doris Lewis Provstgaard. I had 3 sisters; Joyce Smith (deceased), Anne Cluff and Donna Archbold. We all lived and were raised on 5th North and 10th West in Salt Lake City before "Rose Park" existed. I went to school at Onequa Elementary, Jackson Jr. High and graduated from West High in 1947.
I worked with my dad who was an early excavation contractor in the Salt Lake valley. I worked for him and with him until the Korean War started then I served in the 191st fighter squadron. When I came home I resumed working in the excavating business until 1963 when my dad retired. I purchased the first Grove hydraulic truck crane to come into the state of Utah. One thing led to another and before long I was in the crane rental business as Axtel Crane Service. It operated from 1963 until 1998 when I retired.
I enjoyed flying my own plane for 30 years.
On August 2, 1951 I married my soul mate Barbara Jean Parkin in the Salt Lake Temple. We have been married for 65 years. We have 4 daughters; Linda (deceased), Karen (Ted Biehn), Jill (Marc Riley), Kristi (Ron Schmidt). We also raised 2 grandchildren, Mindy (Daniel Corral), Aaron Hansen.
We have 9 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren and one on the way.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Thursday, February 9, 2017 at Russon Brothers Mortuary, 295 North Main, Bountiful, Utah. Friends and family may visit Wednesday evening from 6-8 p.m. and Thursday morning from 9:45-10:45 a.m. prior to the service. Interment will be at the Bountiful City Cemetery. I DON'T KNOW IF YU EVEN REMEMBER ME, BUT I WENT TO WEST HIGH AND SHARED A FEW CLASSES WITH YOU. THAT IS IF YOU ARE THE SAME ANN PROVSTGAARD. I REMEMBER BEING FRIENDS AND REALLY ADMIRING YOU. I THINK YOU WERE A GRADE AHEAD OF ME.

Barbra and Family,
Very saddened to hear of Lew's passing he was a great guy. Lew and Barbra were our first neighbors when we moved to Utah and showed my family great kindness. Lew took me on my first duck hunt in the early sixties, spread my Nan's ashes over the G.S.L. in his plane, and he and Barbra were great long time friends to my mom before her passing. Again Barbra and the family very sorry for your loss.

Dear Barbara and Family...We express our love and condolences at this time. Lew was a Great friend with a kind heart! Every time I go to the gym, I think of Lew and his "corny" little jokes ! Thanks for sharing him with our family.
