West Valley City, UT—Glenn David Newsome, 90, of West Valley City, died January 4, 2021, at his home. He was born March 23, 1930 in Salt Lake City, the son of Claudius Prole Newsome and Jannet Lorene James. Married June Ruth Bibee, March 1, 1951, divorced. Married Nancy Ann Atkinson, January 18, 1970. They have a blended family of 10 children. Member of the LDS Church, Hunter 11th Ward. An avid sportsman, he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his older brothers. Also an avid gardener who took great pride in his flower gardens. He was awarded the Clean & Beautiful Award, in 2011, and again in 2016, for his immaculate gardens and yard. Retired from the Postal Service after 32 years of service. He was the first postmaster of West Valley when it became a city.
Surviving are his wife Nancy, four sons, three daughters, 10 grandchildren, and 14 great grandchildren. Preceded in death by his parents, three older brothers, three sons, and 2 grandchildren.
Graveside Services, Monday, 1:00 pm, January 11, 2021, at Valley View Funeral Home and Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, West Valley City. Visitors may call 11:45 am to 12:45 pm prior to the graveside service.
