Grant Back, age 77, passed away on Monday, July 21, 2014, in Cedar City, Utah, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on August 24, 1936, to Neils F. and Myrtle Jensen Back in Manti, Utah.
Grant loved growing up in Manti and had many friends. He was voted Favorite Guy at Manti High, where he also played basketball. Grant met his wife Evelyn while attending Snow College. They were married on November, 16, 1956, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He worked for Waterworks Equipment Company for 25 years and was the manager at the Water Treatment plant in Cedar City until his retirement.
Grant was a kind and loving man, who was always willing to lend a helping hand. He loved to visit and made new friends where ever he went. Grant enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworking and leather work. He loved tools and spent many happy hours in his shop. Grant was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints; serving in many capacities, Elders Quorum, Counselor in the Bishopric, Ward Clerk and Executive Secretary. He loved his wife and family. He is dearly loved and we will miss his stories that could turn into novels.
He is survived by his wife, Evelyn; four children, Phyllis (Kurt) Sawyer of Mesquite, NV, Kathy Bullock of Cedar City, UT, Ken (Susan) Back of Alamo, NV, Lorraine (John) Bennett of Salt Lake City, UT; 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and a sister, Sharon (Lloyd) Edmonds of Wales, UT. He is preceded in death by his parents; two grandsons, Michael Bullock and Brett Sawyer; two brothers and three sisters.
