Hal McVey Obituary

1928 ~ 2012
Passed away peacefully on July 28, 2012 at University of Utah Hospital on a beautiful Saturday morning surrounded by his wife and family.
Hal was born in Helena, MT and raised in Missoula. He graduated from the U. of Montana and enjoyed the friendship of his brothers of the Sigma Chi fraternity. He served in the US Army during the Korean War and settled in Billings, MT where he worked for Mobil Oil. In 1960 Hal moved to Denver, CO and built a successful career as an Independent Oil & Gas Landman.
He is survived by his loving wife Carolyn Bloom and children: Kelly (Bill) Gray, Kristi (Bob) Mallow, Hal (Retha) McVey, Jon (Julie) McVey, Holly (Joe) Cornet and eight grandchildren.
Upon retirement Hal and Carolyn lived in Park City, UT and Mesquite, NV. Hal loved skiing and for many years served as a member of the National Ski Patrol in Colorado. Hal also took great pleasure in golf, fly fishing, travel, and spending time with family and friends. Hal loved all things Montana; he was a true Western gentleman. Hal's strong, lifelong faith in the Lord was an inspiration to his children and grandchildren. He was active in the Valley Presbyterian Church in Mesquite.
To honor his charitable spirit, any memorial gifts may be sent to the Denver Foundation - Harold A. McVeyFamily Fund at 55 Madison St. 8th Floor, Denver, CO 80206.
A celebration of his life will be held in October in Mesquite, NV.
