Harry Poll Obituary

Harry Ronald Poll Ronnie H. Ronald Poll, age 70, passed away Sunday, January 28, 2007 in Murray, Utah. Ron was born December 13, 1936 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Maurine V. Poll and the late Harry N. He faithfully served in many callings as a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He followed in his father's footsteps in Sound Engineering before working on the Mormon Tabernacle Pipe Organ, and later started his own Pipe Organ Business. His accomplishments in building and servicing pipe organs span from the west to the east coasts. He had a great talent and passion for his work and took pride in the joy it brought others. He will be missed but honored in the legacy he leaves behind. Aunt Mary,
Our deepest sympathies to you and the family. The last time I was able to see Uncle Ron was when all of you came to SC. I am grateful I had the chance to meet him then and regret that we lost contact for so many years. Please know that you and the family are in our thoughts and prayers.

My sympathies to the Poll family. It's been decades since I last saw Ron and his sister Judy. I remember that Ron dreamed of restoring theater pipe organs. How wonderful that he was able to make that dream come true.

Best regards,

We lived next door to the Poll family during the 1940's up till '54. The Poll family was always friendly. The family's dog -- Snuffy -- was a great little pet. Sorry to lose Ronnie.

Mary,

Phyllis and I send you and your family our sympathy on the loss of Ron. We have been away in time and distance for a long time, but I still have fond memories of the time I spent with Ron in the National Guard, Olympus High stage crew and working for his father. His love of pipe organs was never more obvious than when he put the theatre organ in the basement of your house, and had to cut a hole in the living room floor to accommodate the longer pipes.

I am saddened to hear of the death of Ronald Poll. I knew Ron in high school and remember his friendliness, intelligence and technical proficiency. I was most impressed, years later, to learn that he was repairing and upgrading the great Tabernacle Organ, but somehow I wasn't surprised. He had a knack for getting to work on really fun, great things. I express my condolences to his family for the loss this must be to all of them.

RON ALWAYS TOUCHED MY HEART WITH HIS LOVE OF MUSIC. HE WAS ALWAYS A GRACIOUS HOST AND ALWAYS CONCERNED ABOUT YOU. I WILL MISS HIM, AND HOPE TO SEE HIM LATTER.

How do I express my tremendous feelings for your husband, father and grandfather? It is not possible. He was truly a master organbuilder, in the finest sense of that word who has been blessed with talented and capable sons in whom he expressed to me his complete confidence on several occasions. I am blessed by his and your work every Sunday as I worship in our Bountiful 2nd Ward. It was also very obvious to me that Ron is a loving and devoted husband and father as he shared with me his inner feelings and I saw his dealings with his sons first hand. I know that our loving Heavenly Father will see that he stands at the head of your large and beautiful family Forever!
