Ione Corbridge Obituary

Ione Jones Corbridge 1918 ~ 2007 Our cherished mother and grandmother, Ione Jones Corbridge, 88, returned to her Father in Heaven peacefully on Thurs., May 17, 2007. She was born December 6, 1918, in Brigham City, Utah to Lorraine Steed and Evan Jones. She was raised by her beloved grandmother, Margret Ann Jones, until she was 10 years old. Later sealed to her father and step-mother Laverna Jeppson Jones, creating a combined celestial family. Married Hyle (Red) Corbridge on March 13, 1937, in Logan, Utah. Later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple on July 30, 1985. Ione lived a life full of love and devoted service to her family, neighbors, and church. She always saw the good in others and knew just how to love them. Ione was known for sharing her freshly baked bread and desserts, volunteering with the PTA, and babysitting her beloved grandchildren. Her garden, handwork, and home radiated her beauty. She treasured her pioneer heritage and was active in the DUP. Ione loved to celebrate holidays and was always ready for a party, no matter the reason. We all counted on her for great advice; she had a kind word and warm hug for everyone around her. Ione was a model of patience and generosity. Ione and Red spent 48 years together raising four children. She sang her way through life, and we often caught her dancing in the kitchen. She adored puzzles, road trips, and dinner parties. Her life's work was making sure her family felt loved, safe, and self-sufficient. She served in every organization of the LDS church, and her priorities centered on her testimony. She loved serving in the temple and attended as frequently as she could. Ione is survived by her children, Deone (Richard Vreeken), Carol (Barry Ellis), Jack (Coleen), and Bonnie (David Lofgren); 22 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; brothers, William Brown and Robert Jones. The family would like to extend a special thanks to the doctor and nursing staff of the Residence CareSource for their compassionate care of our mother during her last days. Funeral services will begin at 12:00 Noon on Tuesday, May 22, 2007 at the Woods Cross 2nd Ward Chapel at 1500 S. 790 W. in Woods Cross. Friends may call at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 E 10600 S., Sandy, from 6-8 p.m. Monday evening, and from 10:45 to 11:45 a.m. Tues. before the services at the chapel. Dear Corbridge Family,
Erma Love just called and told me about Ione's passing. My heart is breaking - it's a little like losing my mother all over again. I'm sure they're having a happy reunion though. Even when my mom was living with me - and had forgotten all her other friends - she would often talk about her "best friend, Ione" and how she didn't get to see her very much anymore. When they would meet again at the theater or some other place, they would both cry and hug each other. I'm sure it's the same scene right now, only this time our dad's are with them.

My family loved Ione. My children, and their children, called her their "other grandma".

I'm sorry for your loss, but happy for her reunions with Red and Ursula.

Love to you all.

Ione was one of our speical friends. We enjoyed her so much. She was always so friendly and fun. She gave out hugs and smiles unselfishly. We called her when she was in the hospital and spoke to her for a while. The last thing she told both of us was how much she loved us. We are going to miss her as we are sure you will too. May you find comfort at this time of sorrow.

DEAR DEONE, CAROL, BONNIE, JACK,AND FAMILIES, YOU WERE SO LUCKY TO HAVE A MOTHER, GRANDMOTHER AND GREAT GRANDMOTHER THAT WAS SO WONDERFUL. SHE WAS LIKE MY SECOND MOTHER AND I WILL MISS THE WONDERFUL CONVERSATIONS WE HAD. (NOT NEARLY AS OFTEN AS I WOULD HAVE LIKED). SHE WAS A SPECIAL LADY AND A FRIEND I WILL MISS DEARLY. SHE WAS A GREAT EXAMPLE FOR EVERYONE WHO HAD THE OPPORTUNITY TO KNOW HER. I LOVE YOU ALL AND SEND THAT LOVE TO YOU AT THIS TIME OF NEED. ALWAYS BE COMFORTED IN THE KNOWLEDGE THAT SHE HAD A GOOD LONG LIFE AND WAS SUCH A GREAT EXAMPLE. SHE ENJOYED EVERYTHING SHE DID, BUT DOING FOR OTHERS GAVE HER THE MOST PLEASURE. I WILL MISS HER, BUT I KNOW SHE IS IN A BETTER PLACE AND I HOPE THAT IS A COMFORT TO YOU. ALL MY LOVE, VIRGINIA HORTON

Ione was a dear neighbor for years. I didn't know her real well but always was greeted with a bright smile and a friendly hello. I'll miss that. I'm sure that is how she greeted her loved ones in heaven. May the Lord's blessings of comfort and peace be with the family at this time. Kathie and Darrell Abbott
