Irma Nieslon Obituary

Irma Stowell  Luke Neilson 1915 ~ 2004  Irma Louise Stowell Luke Neilson, age 88, died on April 29, 2004.  She was born June 23, 1915 in Rexburg, Idaho to David William and Freida Elizabeth Spori Stowell. She graduated from Ricks College and Brigham Young University and was head of Speech and Physical Education at Manti High School. She married Melroy C Luke, October 13, 1938 in the Salt Lake Temple; he passed away May 7, 1948. Irma married Neils Peter Neilson, June 16, 1950 in Salt Lake City, Utah. He preceded her in death June 19, 1988. She loved to read, dance, travel, be involved with events at the University of Utah, attend dramatic productions and be with her family. She is survived by her children: William Nicholas Luke (D'Ann) of St George, Utah; Roger Stowell Luke (Stephanie) of Cottonwood, California; Linda Neilson Heslington (David) of Chatham, New Jersey; Marilyn Neilson of Salt Lake City, Utah ; Step daughter, Carol Neilson of Salt Lake City, Utah; brothers and sister David William Stowell, Paul Stowell and Edna Taylor; She was blessed with thirteen grandchildren and twenty great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Douglas Melroy Luke, Sisters Ruth Stowell, Mary Jensen, Elaine Bauman; grandson in law, Rudy Jordan and great- grandson, Carter Luke.  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 8, 2004 in the Monument Park 14th ward, 2255 S. Wasatch Dr., Salt Lake City. Graveside services will be in the Manti City Cemetery at 3 p.m. Directors: Peel Funeral Home, Magna.
