Irvin Cope, 88, of Benton, died Sunday, June 22, 2025, at Baptist Health Paducah.
Irvan was born at home in Marshall County on April 13, 1937, to the late Kermit Cope and Dessie Dowdy Cope. He worked as a bank courier for 25 years at the Bank of Benton. Irvin also did auto body work alongside his brother, Dale, at Cope Brothers Body Shop. He enjoyed spending time restoring antique tractors and raising cattle. Irvin was a longtime member of Walnut Grove Church of Christ.
He is survived by his three daughters, Bernice Mussche (Mike) of Kalamazoo, Michigan, Rhonda Mann (Barry) of Gilbertsville, and Tammy Burkeen (Ricky) of Benton; one son, Craig Cope (Donna) of Benton; two sisters, June Yates and Hope Hale; sister-in-law, Cheryl Cope; 10 grandchildren, Josh Mussche, Nick Mussache, Chris Mussche, Marcus Mann, Sam Mann, Michael Burkeen, Zachary Burkeen, Wesley Burkeen, Eli Cope, Nathan Albritton; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife of 51 years, Carolyn York Cope; brother, Curtis "Dale" Cope; grandson, Jason Burkeen; and his parents.
A memorial service for Irvin and the love of his life, Carolyn, will be at 2 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Collier Funeral Home with Murray Riley officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery, Benton.
Visitation will begin at noon-2 p.m. Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Collier Funeral Home, 211 West 5th Street, Benton.
