James Hooton Obituary

1942 ~ 2018
James (Jim) Deloy Hooton passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday April 11, 2018 doing what he enjoyed, playing cards with his wife Carole and 2 best friends Dave and Diane. Although we are devastated by his passing he leaves us with a lot of wonderful memories of good times and laughter.
Jim was born on 2/10/42 to James L. and Doris Hooton. He grew up in Salt Lake City with his sister Margie and his brothers Leo and Steve. Some know him by Jim and some by Deloy but either is the same fun loving and full of laughter man with a big heart.
Jim joined the Air Force when he was 17 and loved sharing stories of his time being stationed in the Philippines. After returning from the Air Force, he began his career as a diesel mechanic for IML freight.
Jim married Clara T. Sanchez (deceased) and had two daughters, Lisa and Theresa. They raised their girls with lots of love and laughter.
He loved camping, fishing, and taking rides out to the desert. He was always interested in learning and history.
Jim married Carole Belgard on 04/28/1997. They enjoyed their time going to Wendover, playing cards and spending time with their children, grand-children and great-grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife, children, step-children, brothers and sister, sister and brother in-laws, many nieces, nephews, cousins, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and friends. We all loved him and will miss him every day. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Clara Hooton, his son in-law Brian Farni, step-son Don Belgard and his sister in-law Marcia Stephenson.
We are very appreciative of the first responders and the medical team at Jordan Valley West Hospital for diligently trying to keep him with us. Jim donated his body to the University of Utah School Of Medicine. It was Jim's request not to have any services, but for us all to remember the good times and laughter that we shared.
