James Hyde Obituary

James K. Hyde 1935 ~ 2006 Our loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, James K. Hyde, passed away, Tuesday, March 21, 2006, following a courageous battle with cancer and heart disease. Born Oct. 5, 1935 in Park City, UT, the son of Robert Stanley and Helen Ireta Kennah Hyde. He was raised in Keetley, UT, graduating valedictorian from Wasatch High School in Heber City. James married Janice Terry, November 30, 1957. She preceded him in death March 21, 1974. Married Verna Wright Horrocks, November 21, 1975. She preceded him in death July 9, 1980. Married Anita McDonald, November 22, 1980. In his younger years, Jim worked at the Keetley mines. Most of his working life was in retail management which gave him and his family the opportunity to live in many different cities, where he made many friendships that he treasured. Some of Jim's favorite pastimes were fly fishing and taking 'short' weekend trips. He was an avid sports fan and supported wholeheartedly his family's activities with great pride. His favorite times were spent with his family and friends. Especially with his grandchildren. Jim was an active member of the LDS Church serving in various capacities through the years, including nine years as a temple worker in the Jordan River Temple. He was an avid genealogist who enjoyed tracing his personal family history and pioneer heritage. He is survived by his loving wife of 25 years, Anita; five children: Kathy (Ron) Carlile, Diane (Doug) Pope, Bob (Diana) Hyde, Jim (Becky) Hyde, Bill (Monica) Hyde; eight stepchildren: Geraldine Watson, Cameron (Dusty) Clegg, Natalie (Calvin) Hughes, Julie Clegg, Chris (Chauntelle) Clegg, Jennifer (John) Miller, Diane (Brian) Horrocks Goodrich, Lisa Horrocks; 43 grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren; and one sister, Charlene Sadler. Preceded in death by two wives, both parents, three brothers and one sister. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 24, 2006, from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. at the Taylorsville 38th LDS Ward, 4310 South 3200 West, West Valley City, and on Saturday, March 25, from 10:30 - 11:30 a.m. prior to the services in the Heber LDS 2nd Ward, 150 North 200 West, Heber City. Funeral services will begin at 12 noon in the 2nd Ward. Interment will be in the Midway Cemetery under the direction of Olpin-Hoopes Funeral Home, Heber City. My dear Anita, and to your family. I'm so sorry to hear this news. I didn't know your husband, but I know you battled valiantly for him, and with him, through the surgery last fall. Please take all these thoughts and wishes as comfort, and know how proud I am of you for your love and devotion. He was a lucky man indeed. My heart hurts for you Sweetie, but he's at peace now and in a wonderful place that his faith afforded him. He'll keep his eye out for you! All my best.
