Mrs. Nowell touched so many lives. Absolutely one of my favorite and best teachers ever. She was patient and kind and had such a great sense of humor...A beloved woman and we were so lucky to have someone tolerate our shenanigans. I love you J Nowell. Thank you for everything.

Janet was a wonderful teacher. Kind. Patient. Focused. She taught me both typing and shorthand in the 7th, 8th, and 9th grades at Clayton Junior High. Then again as we both transitioned to Highland High School where she taught me in the 10th, 11th, and 12th grades. After 6 years together, I considered her a friend and mentor. She prepared me well for the workforce. I owe her a great debt of gratitude. She was the last teacher I spoke to when I graduated. Great memories of her standing in front of the class with an umbrella over her head opening and closing it as we all laughed in an effort to teach us the u sound in shorthand. She kept us engaged. Great lady. Rest peacefully Mrs. Nowell.

Janet Nowell was one of my favorite high school teachers. She not only taught me skills that I use to this day, she also cared about me and wanted me to succeed. She waa a good woman.

I took 2 years of accounting at Highland, and Mrs. Nowell just turned me loose to do the work, which was good for me. Great lady, I'll always remember her.
