Janice Bess Obituary

"MeMa"
Ferron, UT-"I am not a body. I am free. I am as God created me."
-A Course in Miracles
Janice "Jan" Bess, age 74, passed away peacefully Thursday, February 6, 2014. Jan was born June 28, 1939 in Salt Lake City to David Goff Bennion and Vera Rose Herron. She attended Brigham Young High in Provo and Stevens Heneger College. She married Roland B. Wilkins. They later divorced. She spent 50 wonderful years with the love of her life, Val W. Bess. They married January 23, 1964 in Elko Nevada.
After growing up in Sugarhouse, she spent the majority of her life in South Salt Lake as a dedicated wife and mother raising four children. In 1997 she moved with her husband, Val, to Ferron Utah, fulfilling their dream of retiring in the country. She loved the outdoors, fishing and hunting. She was active skier, boater and golfer, but most of all she loved camping. As a very proud member of Alcoholics Anonymous for over 23 years her love and care helped many in recovery. She was a member of the Daughters of Utah Pioneers and the Emery Historical Society. She believed the lessons written in "A Course in Miracles".
Jan is survived by her husband, Val; sister, Marsha; daughter, Tammy Bess; son, Mike Wilkins; and grandsons, Colton and Jared. She will also be greatly missed by her special adopted family, JoAnn, Jennifer, Tyler, Adam, Lula and Johnathan. She was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Carla and Sharon; and two daughters, Danna and Sandy.
A casual gathering for remembrance will be held Saturday, February 15th, 2014 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 noon at Fausett Mortuary 680 East 100 South, Price. Services are in the care of Fausett Mortuary. Family and friends may sign the guest book and share memories of Jan at www.fausettmortuary.com.

This beautiful spirit "Aunt Janny", is my cousin. Close to the age of my Mother and as a result of their special relation and as a resul of Jan's giving, loving, and reliable soul, she was the one that showed up for my birth and has been there for me on so many levels throughout my life. I know this valiant Lady was born into this world to bless and help many of God's children's lives because her actions prevailed. Thank You Aunt Janny and Uncle Val for the dedication and time you two gave to promoting the well-being of our family: family reunions, waterskiing parties/camping at the lake with your boat and Uncle Val cooking everyone omelets while Aunt Janny serving each and everyone, showing up to weddings, beautiful handmade baby quilts, the many hours spent during phone visits pertaining to spiritual outlooks on unconditional Love. Thank You Ain't Janny for setting a courageous example as a Daughter, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and Mentor. As I sit here now with tears streaming down my face and with a photo album on my lap I am looking at precious moments in time with all of the kids together starting with a picture of "Danna feeding Shelli at one month old" then on to Mike and Danna hands linked and holding me and then "Lorilee, Danna, and Shelli 7 at months" then Terri, Shelli, Mike Danna, Sandy and Tammy pictures of being at Aunt Janny's for a place to stay while attending a family reunion by traveling from Calif. to Utah ( they would put us up for days) picture after picture of all of the kids all bunched up together so as to get all of us in the picture (nobody left out) over and over in Aunt Janny and Uncle Val's back yard all the way into our adulthood. As I reminisce my tears come from gratitude, I am grateful to have been apart of such an awesome family. Each one of the cousins, distinct and of good quality. in conclusion, I'd like to acknowledge Jan and her sisters for buying homes within a block of each other, my Mother & her Mother included, their homes surrounding the home of their Mother. each one of the daughters taking turns and having all of us over to a backyard birthday party for their Mother. This was a consistent get together every year, lots of good food & gifts of Love & the gift of being together. In closing I'll say, Thank You God for Our Dear Janny. With Love from Shelli
