Jeffrey Leishman Obituary

Bountiful, UT-Jeffrey N. Leishman (51), passed away peacefully at home on April 3, 2015 after a courageous battle with ALS/FTD. Jeff was born on July 19, 1963 in Logan, UT to Gary and Geraldine Leishman.
He grew up the fourth of five children in a lively home with three brothers and one sister in Hyrum, UT. He graduated from Sky View High School and loved spending time with family and friends snow skiing, waterskiing, and playing sports.
Jeff was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He served in the New York, Rochester mission. Jeff's life reflected his love for our Savior Jesus Christ and His Atonement. Jeff had an unwavering testimony of the Gospel and its restoration and exemplified selfless devotion to his family, friends, and his various church callings. Jeff enjoyed connecting with people and had an uncanny ability to accept and love without judgment.
Jeff graduated from Utah State University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and served as Athletic Vice President Student Body Officer. His loyalty, combined with his mischievous fun-loving spirit, inspired the infamous Spectrum water bomb incident against UNLV. He remained a "True-blue Aggie" throughout his life, assisting with fund raising efforts and attending games with his family. He went on to have a successful career at Williams Gas Pipeline holding various positions. He was employed with Williams for 20 years until he medically retired in March 2013.
Jeff married his best friend, Julie Cloward, in the Salt Lake Temple on July 30, 1993. He and Julie have four children, Ashley, Alexa, Landon, and Keaton, whom Jeff adored. He loved spending time with his kids supporting their dance and piano recitals, sporting events, snow and water skiing, and family outings.
He is survived by his wife Julie, and children; Ashley, Alexa, Landon, and Keaton; mother, Geri Leishman; siblings, Bruce (Carolyn) Leishman, Lesa (Dan) Price, Kelly (Cindy) Leishman, and Dana (Ann) Leishman. He was preceded in death by his father, Gary B. Leishman.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 9 at 11:00 a.m. at the North Salt Lake Stake Center, 900 Eaglepointe Drive, North Salt Lake, UT. Viewings will be held Wednesday from 6:00-8:00 p.m. and Thursday from 9:00-10:30 a.m. at the Stake Center. Interment will take place at the Lake View Cemetery at 1640 Lakeview Drive, Bountiful, UT. Funeral arrangements are under the direction of Russon Brothers Mortuary, Bountiful, UT.
In lieu of flowers, kindly consider a donation to the LDS General Missionary Fund. Checks can be made out to The Foothill LDS Ward. Special appreciation to the Foothill Ward and neighborhood, and his friends from Williams Gas Pipeline for their charitable service and kindness.

Jeff was truly a stand-up guy who stood up for his beliefs and convictions, always in good spirits. Even in his last days, weeks and months with ALS and Dementia, Jeff made it very clear where his priorities were: He was a devout man who loved his God, the gospel, his wife, children, family and friends...And of course...USU Athletics. I will miss Jeff. He will absolutely leave yet another void in our family and I'll miss him dearly. I love you, Jeff, Julie, Ashley, Alexa, Landon and Keaton.

My only regret is not knowing about Jeff's battle with ALS sooner. I have great memories of Jeff for my 15 years at Williams. My wife passed from ALS one year ago, 30 March. My prayers are with you Julie and the children. I know some of your struggles.

My thoughts are with you during this difficult time. I worked for Williams in Tulsa and had the pleasure of knowing and working with Jeff. He was always very kind and thoughtful. He will truly be missed.

Jeff was all you stated in the obituary and more. I worked with him at Northwest and consider him a great friend and example of what a man should be. You have my deepest sympathy and love. We will all rejoice in being with him again one day. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Evan Hanson

How lucky we were to know this kind, upbeat man. We will miss him in our ward and neighborhood.

Our thoughts and prayers are sent to Heavenly Father to comfort your family. We know most of the Leishman family but never met Jeff. We lived in Cache Valley for years and have done business with Jeff's brothers and mother. We now live in Ogden and don't get to see them very often but when we do we renew great friendships. Al are dear friends. We surely hope that all goes well now that Jeff has gone home. Our best wishes to those that must remain. God bless. Sincerely, Gerry and Shirley Collinwood

Jeff had a way of always turning the attention away from himself and on to you. He always wanted to know how you and your family were doing. Julie and family you are in our prayers during this difficult time.

Julie, so, so sorry to hear of your loss. But the toll Jeff's disease took on him and you and the family was not easy to bear either. It's a head-scratcher. All I know is the Lord is completely in charge and for him death is much, much different than for us. You are such a lovely person. I wish you great comfort in this time of loss. God bless, Greg Bell

Jeff was one of the kindest men I've known. He was always willing to stop and visit, giving his full attention to every word. I loved the day, as a proud father, he handed his new born daughter over to me, trusting that I would handle her with care. It makes me smile every time I think of that day.
