Joanne Taft Obituary
1933 - 2021
SLC, UT—Joanne Marie Tobias Taft passed away peacefully at home in Salt Lake City, Utah on May 20, 2021 at the age of 88. She was born in SLC, UT January 14, 1933 to Leonta Jean and Ivan Tobias.
She graduated from East High School where she met her high school sweetheart, Jon Taft. They were married on May 2, 1952.
Tobie had a life filled with family and friends. She loved hosting parties, was an avid bridge player, loved boating with her family, enjoyed her bowling league, and was thrilled to teach us all how to line dance. She enjoyed knitting and had a knack for creating beautiful gardens. She had a positive outlook on life and endured more than her share of life's challenges, never complaining but instead met them with grace and optimism.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Jon and sister Leona Jean Rauscher. Tobie is survived by her brother Marvin J. Tobias, and four children: Lynda Taft, Sheryl (Clayton) Hansen, Greg (Liz) Taft all from SLC, UT and Scott Taft, San Jose,CA. She has four grandchildren: Heather(Tyler)Hilton, Elyse(Tony)Ramirez, Natalie(Taylor)Oberle and Brayden Taft; and seven great-grandchildren.
In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Braille Institute of America, Moran Eye Center or Huntsman Cancer Institute.
