John Maresh Obituary

John L. Maresh 1938 ~ 2005 John L. Maresh, age 66, Pierpont, OH, died January 12, 2005 at Geauga Regional Hospital, Claridon Twp., OH. He was born September 14, 1938 in Cleveland, OH and lived in Salt Lake City, UT before moving to Pierpont two years ago. He worked in the Airfield Maintenance Division at the Salt Lake City Airport for 15 years, retiring June 2001. He married Margaret Melrose Jessop in Salt Lake City, January 4, 1992. Mr. Maresh was an avid handyman and gardener. He loved working on his land, growing fruit, vegetables and flowers. He enjoyed building, remodeling and was always helping others. He taught his family to play cards and was always playing practical jokes. Mr. Maresh was a member of the Cottonwood Murray Elks Lodge # 2344 in Salt Lake City, UT. He had been an over the road truck driver, having seen 48 states and Canada. He had logged over a million miles without an accident. Survived by his wife, Margaret Maresh of Pierpont, OH; daughters, Kathy (Don) Starcher of Chardon, OH, Mary Jessop of Salt Lake City, UT, Joni (Scott) Winger of Salt Lake City, UT, Cherie (Mark) Dahl of Salt Lake City, UT; sons, Scott Maresh of Madison, OH, Kelly Maresh of Montville Twp., OH; grandchildren, Michael Herczak, Ben Maresh, Jesse Bonin, Kevin Maresh, Trevor and Britney Dahl, Justin and Morgan Winger, Anthony Jessop; and brother, Frank (Louise) Maresh of Deltona, FL. Preceded in death by parents, John and Irene (Niessen) Maresh. Memorial service 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 18 at Burr Funeral Home, 116 South St., (on St. Rt. 44,500' south of Rt. 6/Chardon Square). Visitation 6 p.m. Tuesday until the time of the service. Private family burial will be at a later date. Arrangements by The Burr Funeral Home. John and I were cousins. We grew up together in Cleveland, Ohio and kept in close contact until I was 17 years old and moved to South Bend, Indiana. In those days John, his brother Frank, and my brother Chuck were more like brothers than cousins. Wonderful memories.
