John Villalobos Obituary

John Richard Villalobos 11/11/35 ~ 2/9/03  John Richard Villalobos, 67, passed away on February 9, 2003, surrounded by his loving wife and family, at the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salt Lake City.  He was born on November 11, 1935 in Santa Fe, New Mexico to Josefina and Juan Villalobos and graduated from Bingham High School. He married Carol Casaus in 1958 and from this union they were blessed with eight children. Later divorced. He married Thelma Perea in August 1993.  He worked at Kennecott Copper for 31 years as a truck haulage driver. From 1960 to 1965 worked at Tooele Army Depot in Security. Served in the U. S. Marines, 11th Division, 1954-1957 with an honorable discharge. John sang beautifully and loved playing the guitar and singing in Spanish for everyone. He is survived by his loving wife, Thelma; daughters, Valerie Cordova, Janette (Kent) Sorenson, Ranae Villalobos, Christina (Homero) Juarez, Tami Cordova; sons, Manuel (Brenda) Villalobos, Richard Lynn Villalobos, Joe (Emily) Villalobos and one step-son, Corey Lance Hodges; 22 grandchildren, four step-grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one step-son, Richard Julian Hodges; and father-in-law, Press Perea. Dad, we know you are looking upon us, playing your guitar and singing your perfect song for this moment! Vaya con dios. Con mucho amor. Tu familia. Special thanks to Ben and Martha Reyes for their visits to the hospital, for helping us through everything. You're very special. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 14, 2003, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, 4501 West 5215 South, Kearns. The family will receive friends at a viewing on Thursday evening from 6 to 7:30 p.m. with the Rosary at 7:30 p.m. at Valley View Funeral Home, 4335 West 4100 So. There will also be a viewing one hour before the service at the church. Interment: Valley View Memorial Park.
