Joseph Evans Obituary

Joseph Robbins Evans M.D. 3/28/23 ~ 8/1/04  Joseph Robbins Evans died Sunday, August 1, 2004 after a long illness. Dr. Evans was born March 28, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents were Alldridge Neslen Evans and Thelma Ellen Robbins Evans. He was the second of seven children. He married Nadine Watkins on December 21, 1945 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They have four children and now have 19 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.  He attended Lowell Elementary School, Bryant Junior High School, and East High School. He did undergraduate work and attended Medical School at the University of Utah where he received his bachelors degree in 1943 and his M.D. degree in 1946. After medical school, he did an internship and residency at LDS Hospital and then was accepted for a fellowship at the Cleveland clinic, Cleveland, Ohio. He was a member of multiple professional societies and was a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. In 1950, Dr. Evans and his wife returned to Salt Lake City which they have called home ever since. He retired from practice in 1993. Dr. and Mrs. Evans served a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints for two years in Fort Worth, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents Alldridge Neslen Evans and Thelma Ellen Robbins Evans, and four siblings, John Alldridge Evans, Burtis Robbins Evans, Thelma Ellen Evans Wright, and Florence Robbins Evans Turner. He is survived by his wife, Nadine Watkins Evans, and two brothers, Gordon Robbins Evans and Leigh Robbins Evans. He is also survived by his children, Nancy Ann Evans Alston (David), Reynold Alan Evans (Vivian), Kent Evans (ReNae), and Barbara Jo Evans Derksen (Timothy) and all his grandchildren. The funeral will be held at 12 noon, on Wed., August 4, 2004, at the Monument Park 14th Ward Chapel, 2255 S. Wasatch Dr. Viewings will be held August 3, 2004 at Wasatch Lawn Mortuary chapel, 3401 S. Highland Dr. from 6-8 p.m. and August 4, 2004 at the Monument Park 14th Ward chapel one hour before the funeral.
