JOSEPH RUDEN Obituary

Joseph Daniel Ruden 1971 ~ 2011 Our loving husband, father, son and brother, Joseph Daniel Ruden, returned to live with his Father in Heaven on August 17, 2011. He was born on August 4, 1971 in Spokane, Washington to Samuel George and Patricia Parmley Ruden. Joe grew up in Bellevue, Washington and Sandy, Utah. He graduated from Alta High School where he was a member of the championship football team. He served a mission for the LDS Church in Puerto Rico. He married Kirsten Harward on June 3, 1994 in Salt Lake City. They were sealed as a family for time and all eternity on June 3, 2006 in the Mt. Timpanogos Temple. Joe was a hard worker and would do anything to serve others, including his church callings. He served in many capacities, but his favorite calling was serving as a Primary teacher. He loved his primary children and they loved him. Joe was employed with the United States Postal Service for the past 18 years, serving most recently as a supervisor in Provo. His operation was ranked No. 1 out of 50 for the past three weeks. Joe enjoyed camping, fishing, four-wheeling and golf. His greatest joy was spending time with his wife and his four beautiful children. He never missed a single activity they were involved in. Joe is survived by his wife, Kirsten, and his four children, Kalin Scott, Tyler Joseph, Madison Nicole and Amber Lillie Ruden; his parents, Sam and Pat Ruden; siblings Lorie (Perry) Ray, Maria (Toby) Enniss, Molly (Oly) Underwood, Heather (Casey) Epling, Shannon (Adam) Mackey, and his brother, Jeff; his in-laws, Jud and Marsha Harward, Brad and Aimee Brian, Lenny and Kelly Harward, Jake and Sara Harward; grandmother, Lillian Munson. He was the favorite uncle to many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grand-parents Ross W. Parmley and Roy S. and Mary S. Ruden and many aunts and uncles. A funeral will be held Monday, August 22 at 11 a.m. at the LDS Stake Center, 1998 W. 900 N. in Lehi. Friends and family may call that morning from 9-10:30. A viewing will be held Sunday, August 21 from 6-8 p.m. at the Wing Mortuary, 118 E. Main in Lehi. Interment will be in the Lehi Cemetary. Online guestbook at wingmortuary.com. Dear Sam, Pat and Family:
Joseph was my supervisor in Mail Processing in SLC. One of the things I liked best about Joe was he appreciated me and respected the work I did. This plus his pleasing personality and hard work ethic made it a pleasure to work with him.
I am so sorry for your loss and pray for your peace and comfort.
Sincerely,
Joyce Hughes

Dear Sam, Pat and family,

My sincere condolences at Joe's untimely passing. He will not soon be forgotten by those of us who had the opportunity to work with him at the P&DC.

May you find peace in knowing he lived a good and happy life, and may you take comfort in pleasant memories of him.

Life is eternal, love is immortal, and death is only a horizon; and a horizon is nothing save the limit of our sight. When we lose someone we love, it seems that time stands still. I was deeply saddened to hear of your loss. Pat, Sam and family, my thoughts are with you. Laraine Pruett

Mrs. Ruden & Family,

I would like to express my condolences to you and to
Joe's family. It was a honor to know and work with him
while he was at 'The Downtown Station" in Salt Lake City,
Utah. He was a very fine person and did a terrific job
while he was there. "The Postal Service will truly miss him
as time goes by:".

"May God Bless all of you now and forever".

Kirsten I still remember when you and Joe came and visited me after I had my first baby. I think he was the only person from my high school days that took the time to come see us when Connor was born. I've always appreciated that. The funeral was beautiful and I thought you might want to know one more of Joe's car fixing skills that Brian failed to mention. I witnessed him fixing an overheated car(his) by peeing in the radiator thing. It worked! I guess there is no limit to his mechanical skills with cars. I'll miss him.

I worked for Joe as a casual clerk at the Post Office in Salt Lake City when I came home from my mission in 1998. He was an awesome supervisor, good example, and a good friend to me. My prayers are with your family. I am very glad I knew him.

I also had the pleasure of working with Joe. He was a great guy that I will miss. Joe knew the value of hard work and the importance of getting the job done but he also knew how to relax and have fun. I think he really cared about other people and found great value in everyone. I wish his family well and hope they always remember that great smile and good heart.

I had the pleasure of working with Joe at the Salt Lake Postal Service before he made the move to Provo. When I needed a supervisor to put a special effort into a project and get things done right I would always look to Joe. A smiling face and a great attitude is what I will always remember of him. He was also a very good golfer and loved to compete, especially when he was playing with his father. He was a great man and he will be missed.
