Joyce Prather Obituary

Jan. 9, 1935 ~ Nov. 23, 2015
You were already an angel on this earth, so the transition will be easy for you. You touched the lives of so many, and spent your life serving others. We've never met another person that was more selfless, and truly lived for her family.
Joyce was born Jan. 9, 1935, in Francis, Utah, to Golden C. Holt and LaRue Woodard Crittenden. She married the love of her life, Ray Dean Prather, on Feb. 26, 1955, in Canyonville, Oregon. They were sealed in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on their 10th anniversary, Feb. 26, 1965.
Joyce is survived by her husband and eternal companion, Ray Dean Prather; son, Allen Prather (Pam); daughters, Debbie Prather Pierce (Brent), Patti Prather Sampson (Patrick), and Shelli Prather Eldredge (Steve); nine grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her brother, Howard Holt (Ellen). Joyce was preceded in death by her parents; and her sister, Betty Holt Bergin.
Joyce was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She graduated from Ogden High School. She always loved kids. She spent many years babysitting children in her home and also working at a daycare. She treated them like her own children. Everyone was welcome at the Prather house - no invitation necessary. Joyce loved serving, giving, and doing things for others. She was selfless and would give you whatever she had. Family was the most important to Joyce. She spent time with family and friends - camping, boating, wood cutting, hunting, picnics, and holidays.
We express our thanks and gratitude to the staff of Intermountain Homecare and Hospice for their compassionate and loving care, especially Eileen and Debbie.
The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 30, at Mountain View Memorial Estates, 3115 E. 7800 S., in Cottonwood Heights, Utah, where friends and family may call from noon until 12:45 p.m. Officiating will be Eric B. Pierce. Entombment will immediately follow.
You have shown us the meaning of being a family and always lending a hand to those in need. Heaven doesn't know how lucky they are to have you. You are an inspiration of what a woman, daughter, mother, and grandmother should be! May you find peace, and prepare your new home for the next family reunion. We will never forget you or the love you brought to... all of our lives.
WE LOVE YOU!!
