JUNE CALDER Obituary

June Natalie Samuels Calder 1926 ~ 2011 Loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend. On June 8, 2011, June peacefully passed away at the Avalon Care Center, Bountiful, Utah. Born June 30, 26 in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Lillian Ellison and Frank Lee Samuels. She married Donald Calder on April 16, 46. Their marriage was solemnized on Feb.13, 64 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. A graduate of West High School, June was born to dance. Her initial career was as a professional dancer and member of the Savoy Dancers. During World War II the Savoy Dancers toured with Jan Murray's USO Tour, entertaining our soldiers and veterans. She also was a member of the Bountiful Sweet Adelines for a number of years. Then she turned her time and talents to her passiongenealogy. She was employed for many years by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the genealogy department. Upon retiring she served a volunteer mission in the same service. June also served as President of the Utah Genealogy Association, the Daughters of the American Revolution, and the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers. June's most meaningful accomplishment was that of a loving and committed wife and mother of her six children, and the service she rendered to her dear friends whom she cherished, and all she knew. June was preceded in death by her sweetheart, Donald Calder; sister, Melba (Gerard Bueneman), brother, Arvil Rose; and grandson, Nathan Felt. Survivors are sons Donald Scott Calder (Karen); Jeffrey Mason Calder; Judy Lee Calder; LeAnn Felt; Connie Jo Calder; Penny Marie Rasmussen (Les); nephew, Tim Bueneman; 13 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 13, 2011, at 11:00 a.m. at the Bountiful 43rd Ward, 990 N 100 W, Bountiful, Utah. Friends may call Sunday, June 12, 2011, from 6-8 p.m. at the Russon Brothers Mortuary in Bountiful, or one hour prior to the funeral services at the church. Interment will be in the Wasatch Lawn Memorial Park, 3401 S Highland Dr, SLC, UT. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the LDS Humanitarian Fund, PO Box 27188, Provo, UT 84602. Online guestbook at www.russonmortuary.com The family wishes to thank the staff at Avalon Care Center and at Inspiration Hospice for their loving care and concern.

June's kids,
I am sorry to hear about the loss of your mom. I have many fond memories of spending time with your family.
It is never easy losing your mom, but at least with your knowledge she is with your Dad, will make it easier.
I am sorry I was unable to make the viewing last night, I was sick. My boss is out of town, so I was unable to leave for the funeral. I hope your day honoring your Mom went well. Leeann, I will call you and talk with you very soon.
Love,
Marjean Smith

Dear Calder Family,
I remember your mother so fondly from years ago when we all were much younger. She was a great dancer, a positive and gregarious person, and a beautiful lady.

I am so sad to hear of her passing and send my love and condolences. Even when you know it's inevitable there is no easy way to lose your parent. She will always live in our hearts and memories.
Love,
Linda

My condolences go to the Family of June Calder. I talked to her on the phone several years ago to get together with Tom Mackay and other cousins and myself to check on Calder Genealogy. My grandfather John Calder MacKay's father and mother were John MacKay and Isabelle Calder. We have some on the Calder ancestry but not as much as we would like. If any of the family has information on the Calder line, please let me know. Kathryn MacKay Jones
