Kathryn Read Obituary

Kathryn Hale Read
1934-2014
Our beloved mother and grandmother reunited with her husband on November 11, 2014, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.
She was born November 23, 1934, in Grantsville, Utah, to William Riley and Sarah Alice Rydalch. Kathryn married Edwin Read, Jr. on April 2, 1955, in Los Angeles, Calif.; their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on December 19, 1963.
Kathryn was loved by many people because she showed genuine concern for them. She was a great cook, and made her family and friends feel welcome.
She is survived by her children, Mike (Karee), Joyce Read, Sally (Dan) Ipson, Linda (Craig) McLaughlin, Carl (Helen), Donna (Ryan) Winkler, and William Read; 15 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brothers, Reed, Arnold, Martel, and Blaine; sisters, Margaret Smith, Alice Stutz, Dorothy Evans, and Donna Watson.
The family would like to thank the staff at Silverado Memory Care for making mom comfortable and treating her with respect and compassion.
Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, November 14, 2014, at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road, in Taylorsville. A viewing will be from 10:00 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. prior to services. Interment - Valley View Memorial Park, 4335 West 4100 South, in West Valley City.

I knew you mother as "Mrs. Read", my back door neighbor since 1960. Kathy was not only my neighbor but also my cub scout Den Mother with lots of fun activities that taught me and other young boy's many good things, even if we didn't know it at the time; She was the stregnth behind your great Father Ed; And obviously a great mother, and grandmother. The Read family was and is a big and important part of our world in Taylorsville, many good memories. I'm fortunate to have been a part of that. Thank you for sharing your Mother.
My thoughts and prayers for comfort are with you.
