I knew Kenan as a youngster in Dallas. Kenan was an active adolescent who loved to swim. Kenan loved the family dog Coco and spent many a happy day with him. Kenan was always incredibly bright. Kenan´s achievements were the result of hard work, focus, and passion. Kenan touched many lives and will be remembered. The pain will never go away, only subside to a dull roar. Rest in peace kind soul.

I'm devastated to hear this news. I took one of Kenan's first classes at Westminster. They were a wonderful teacher; their assignments were always applicable to the real world, provided historical context for our learning, and encouraged us to use math in a way that supported others.
Because of our mutual love of math and our devotion to social justice, Kenan invited me to work on a summer research project on the SLCPD's use of force. They supported me in meeting with the department, organizing the data, writing code, and creating a presentation, which we presented in front of the chief of police as well as the Westminster student body. This project was a massive undertaking that was only possible through Kenan's endless patience, kindness, and guidance.
Because of this project, as well as my desire to become a math teacher, Kenan invited me to TA for their new class, Social Justice by the Numbers. Their lessons encouraged students to question authority, as this class highlighted the way that math can be used to manipulate, though it is thought of as unerring.
Kenan's focus on equity in the classroom has inspired many policies in my own classroom. Their open discussion of gender identity exposed me to a new set of language, as well as modeling how to set clear expectations of respect for others' identities.
I'm so grateful to have met and worked closely with Kenan. They have been a guiding light in my life, and I only wish I would have expressed how much their mentorship impacted me.
Thank you, Kenan. You are so loved.

To Kenan's family,
My deepest condolences for the loss of such an amazing human. I worked with Kenan at Westminster College and absolutely adored them. May you be comforted by knowing just how profoundly loved and respected Kenan was here in SLC.

I met Dr. Kenan Ince at a Spectra event during JMM some years ago. This is heartbreaking. I know they cared deeply about students, mathematics, and the arts. Thank you, Dr. Ince.

Dr. Ince was one of my very first professors at Westminster. I took a Social Justice by the Numbers course from them that, to this day, I still often reflect back on. I am devastated to hear the news. Sending warm thoughts to the family and friends of Kenan.

Dr. Kenan Ince was an incredible professor that I had the privilege of having during my undergraduate career. I was anxious going into a data class because I wasn't the best at math/stats but Kenan taught with understanding and empathy of this, especially while taking the class during the start of the pandemic. They taught me the connection between numbers and social justice issues, ultimately making me enjoy math and data again. This sparked more of my interest in conducting my own research in other fields. They were a one of a kind professor and human, that will remain in my thoughts forever. Rest in peace & power.
