Larry Jones Obituary
On July 13th 2017, Larry Lee Jones unexpectedly passed away in his home in Sea Ranch California. Everyone who met Larry briefly, or who knew him for many years were struck by his intelligence, dry humor and tendency to swim upstream! Among many things he was a National Merit Scholar, runner, tennis player and tennis pro, skier, computer programmer, mathematical genius, motorcyclist, inventor and amateur carpenter.
Born in Morenci Michigan July 25th 1945 to Wanda Allen and Alvy Jones. He studied Physics at Michigan State University where he met his first wife Kathryn Bacon. They moved to Salt Lake City, Utah in 1973 and his only child Elizabeth Jones was born in 1978. While living in Utah, he and Kathryn managed The Liberty Park Tennis Center together and separately from 1977-2001. In the winter, he worked on Ski Patrol at The Canyons Ski Resort for over 30 years. He went on to work full time for The United States Tennis Association from 2002 to 2016. In 2000 he married Linda Hasting and in 2009 they moved to Sea Ranch California together, 120 miles north of San Francisco on the edge of The Pacific Ocean. Although Linda and Larry's time together was brief that time was treasured deeply.
Survivors include his daughter Elizabeth Jones, and daughter in law Molly St. Clair of California, half- brother Mike Jones and half-sister Jani Miller, and seven cousins residing in the Midwest. He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife Linda in 2012. A memorial service will be held at the Del Mar Center in Sea Ranch, CA at 1pm on August 27th

Larry was one of the smartest, humble, hilarious people I have known in my life. He was always wanting to do the right thing. He would help anybody who asked him. I would say that after living with he and my mother while she was dying from cancer
Was a life a true life lesson for both of us. He was a wonderful husband for my mom, a great father to his daughter, and a great step dad and friend to me. He was a good man I am blessed to have had him in my life.
