Lo Andriese Obituary

Lo Andriese
1937 ~ 2018
Lodewyk Jacob Andriese passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2018. He was born in Rotterdam, Holland on December 6, 1937, to Leendert Pieter Andriese and Louize de Zwart, and immigrated to the United States with his family in 1952 when he was 14. After graduating from West High, Lo went on to study Commercial Art and Advertising at Salt Lake Community College. He then worked in advertising as a commercial artist, creative director, and vice president. He designed the original Associated Food Stores logo in his early twenties and was grateful for his start there. He also worked for Ross Journey and Gillham Advertising. Lo married his high school sweetheart, Judith ReNee Low, on February 26, 1960. He and Judy owned Sylvester's Art & Frame Studio, where they met many wonderful artists who became dear friends. Lo was also a fine artist who enjoyed painting, drawing, sculpting, and carving. He was an avid fly fisherman, loved soccer, alpine skiing, swimming, and camping with his family. Lo became a proud US citizen at the age of 72.
He was preceded in death by his wife Judy, his parents, and sister. He is survived by his children: Audrey (Brian) Schmidt, Gigi (Craig) Ream, and Eric (Jolinn) Andriese. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Brandon (Tara), Ashley, and Dallan (Ashley) Schmidt, Logan and Bergen Ream, Austin, Parker, and Nicholas Andriese, and six great-grandchildren.
A celebration of his life will be held on Friday, August 31, 2018 at 11:00 am with a viewing from 9:30 to 10:30 am at Jenkins-Soffe South Valley, 1007 W. South Jordan Parkway (10600 S), South Jordan, Utah. Interment will be at Valley View Cemetery. Online condolences may be shared at www.jenkins-soffe.com.

I had the great pleasure of working with Lo as his sidekick artist at Gillham. He was a mentor to me. I got to reciprocate when our job became digital. His calm demeanor and buttery voice helped take the edge off a sometimes hectic job. And his art! Those sculptures! I'm fortunate that I was around when he was cleaning out his collection of paintings, and I have a watercolor of his hanging in my home. Love you, Lo!

I work with Lo for several years at Gillham Advertising, and adored him.He was such a great artist. When the graphic world changed using computers, he had a hard time adjusting to that, but soon became an avid user learning everything he could about what they could do. What I loved about him the most, is he was true to himself and very honest. My prayers go out to his children. He will truly be missed.
