LOUIS EVANS Obituary

Louis Llewellyn Evans 1935 ~ 2011 Our gentle, quiet, husband, father, and grandfather passed away quietly and peacefully as he lived; surrounded by his wife and children on Friday, June 24, 2011. He was born October 7, 1935 in Ogden, Utah to Darrell Elijah and Margaret Berghout Evans. Louis was the third of seven children. He spent his early years growing up in Mount Emmons, Utah and the family later relocated to Salt Lake City, Utah where he attended school and graduated from West High School as a member of the ROTC. Louis was active in the LDS church serving a mission in the Netherland, home of his maternal ancestry. He later enlisted in the Utah National Guard being called to active duty for the Berlin Crisis. He was sealed to his eternal love, Ruth LaVon Sowards in the Salt Lake Temple on November 19, 1964. They raised five children and he served in many callings in the church, the greatest of which was patriarch to his family. He was, is, and always will be a true father; you will always be with us. Louis began work early in life and worked hard to provide for his family and retired from Meadow Gold Dairies in 2000. Later in life, he enjoyed being an ordinance worker in the Jordan River Temple. He is survived by his wife, Ruth and four children: David (Elizabeth) Evans, Becky (Lynn) Barton, Irene (Ken) Brown, and Elizabeth (Mark) Hodges, son-in-law, Lynn (Kristi) Langford and 17 grandchildren, siblings: James Evans, Marva Calton, Newell (Jan) Evans, Charles (Kathy) Evans, and Ben (Karen) Evans. He was preceded in death by his daughter Margaret Ann Langford, his parents Darrell and Margaret Evans, and sister Cora Franke. In lieu of flowers, donate to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society (www.lls.org). Funeral services will be held Thursday, June 30th, 11:00 a.m. at the Hunter 9th Ward, 3450 So. 6400 W. A viewing will be held Wednesday evening from 6 - 8 p.m. at Redwood Memorial Mortuary, 6500 So. Redwood Rd. and one hour prior to services at the church. Our deepest sympathy go out to Ruth and the rest of the family. I remember sitting on my grandpa's (Sarge) porch and Louis would always ask how they were doing. I am sorry for your loss.

I am Pat Berghout Reinert, Leonard Berghouts daughter living in Hurricane Utah. I didn't know Louis well but he is family, he is a year older than my present husband. I wish to express to my condolences as a part of the family. How quickly life comes and graduates to the next event. The family mourns the loss but also celebrates his new adventure. Thinking of you Pat

My sincerest condolences to this family, who were my second home and family when I was young. I am truly just a little bit better a person for having grown up across the fence. May the Good Lord comfort you at this time. So grateful for eternal families!!
