Salt Lake City, UT -Marilyn R. Carr, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on October 2, 2025, surrounded by her loving family. Born in Bryan, Ohio, on November 16, 1933, Marilyn graduated from Bryan High School in 1951 and attended the University of Arizona.
She shared 71 beautiful years of marriage with her devoted husband, William E. Carr. Together, they embraced life's adventures, living in many cities during William's career with Shell Oil. Marilyn welcomed each new home with warmth and hospitality, and had a gift for making lifelong friends.
Known for her gracious hosting and beautifully set tables, Marilyn created memorable gatherings for family, friends, and colleagues. Her love of bridge, travel, and the arts-especially the symphony, theater, and museums-was a joy she passed on to her children and grandchildren.
She was a great supporter of her children's interests in life, be it her son's artistic pursuits or daughter's medical career. Her presence at her grandchildren's sporting events and a tireless support of their passions was appreciated immensily.
Marilyn is survived by her husband, William E. Carr of Salt Lake City, Utah; her son, Scott Carr of Salt Lake City; and her daughter, Kimberly (Carr) Fremont of Lake Ozark, Missouri, and husband Alan Fremont. She was a proud grandmother to Andrew Fremont (Susan) of Vanceboro, North Carolina; Brent Fremont (Marissa) of LaSalle/Peru, Illinois; and Daniel Fremont of Park City, Utah. Her legacy continues through her great-grandchildren: Raelynn, Emmy, William, and Remi.
She is also survived by her sister, Betty Weber of Cleveland, Ohio; sister-in-law, Carol Hamet of Kalamazoo, Michigan; and many nieces and nephews.
Marilyn was preceded in death by her parents, Ursula and Elmer Russell Pruden; siblings Kenneth (Helen), Arthur (Susie), and Nancy Pruden; and in-laws Grace and Robert Carr, Robert Weber, and Robert Hamet.
In her later years, Marilyn and William resided at The Ridge Foothill, where they enjoyed the caring staff and the companionship of new friends. Marilyn's life was a testament to love, family, and the joy of shared moments. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew her.
