Marilyn Richards Obituary

Marilyn Colledge Richards

1939 ~ 2023

West Jordan, Utah-Marilyn Colledge Richards was born in Orem, Utah on September 18, 1939, to Lionel and Grace Colledge.

She is survived by one brother, Lyle Colledge, and two children, Michael Clark Richards (Chris) and Jolynn Richards Koehler (Robert Apple); grandchildren Jordan Koehler Larsen (Jared), Daniel James Koehler (Andrea), and Spencer Clark Koehler (Val), Cody Hanson, and one great grandson, Theodore Larsen.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Willard Clark Richards Junior, and her daughter, Laura Lynn Kuykendall (Kenneth Kuykendall).

Marilyn and Clark were married in 1960 and spent their lives in the Salt Lake City and West Jordan area.

Marilyn was warm and loving. She took people under her wing and showed them unconditional love. For many years, she was a hair stylist and loved her work; however, her real love was plants and gardening. Her yard was always overflowing with beautiful displays.

She was a wonderful mother, grandmother and friend to all: She was energetic and bright and made her way through this world always looking for the bright side of things. We miss you already Mom!

I shared many hours of work and friendship with Marilyn at St. Mark´s Hospital. She and her good friend Rae were volunteers in the library I ran after the many years they spent volunteering in the pharmacy. I always looked forward to having lunch together too. There were many days that I was very stressed from my job, but Marilyn was a great counselor, always ended with, "this will pass and all will be well." I loved Marilyn like an older sister. I regret that I failed to stay in touch when I moved to Colorado. I´m blessed to have known her, she was a wonderful woman.

We are so sad to hear about the passing of Marilyn. Our family has fond memories of her. She always was so upbeat and happy to be around people. What a great example she was. The legacy she leaves will carry on for generations. The Richards family is in our prayers at this difficult time. I can only imagine the reunion she is having with Clark, Laura and friends and family on the other side.
