Martha Nak Obituary

1927 ~ 2012
On Friday, September 28, 2012 we lost our mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She passed away peacefully at her home in Salt Lake City, Utah at 85 years old. Martha J. Nak was born on September 11, 1927 in Leeuwarden, Netherlands. Her life was filled with love of family and joy of being an American. Throughout her life she had the opportunity to travel to many countries and places, but her favorite place was to travel home to visit her family in Holland.
Martha married John Nak, in 1948 and they immigrated to the United States, starting a new life in Salt Lake City. She is preceded in death by her husband John, and survived by two sons Donovan (Renate), Erny (Gayle), 6 grandchildren Ben, Liz, Dalia, David, Amy, and Tuesdee, 5 great grandchildren, three sisters, Mary, Joanne and Helen two brother-in-laws, Hill and Larry (Shirley) Nak and many great friends.
Martha had the opportunity to work at ZCMI and Macy's downtown for many years. Most of her time was spent in fine china, glassware and silver. Martha's home was always a beautiful and welcoming place. The best times were spent sharing a glass of red wine enjoying John's Violin and listening to her many stories and experiences in life. Martha was a woman filled with pride and class. We love and will miss you beautiful lady!
The family would like to thank the many professionals that worked with Martha during her extended illness, which included the staff of Summit Hospice Care, especially Rhonda who was so helpful and tender as they cared for Martha at home during her last days.
We are having a celebration of her life on Sunday, October 21st from 2 to 6 p.m. at John and Martha's home in Salt Lake. 2102 Berkeley St.

I am so sorry for your lose! I knew both John and Martha. I used to help her clean up the house and bought a couch set from John that he made specially for me and my husband. She will be greatly missed and glad for her being a part of my life! Verla Reid
