Mary Evelyn Potter

1926 ~ 2012
Mary Evelyn Potter, age 85, passed away October 12, 2012, at the Uintah Basin Care and Rehabilitation Center, in Roosevelt, Utah. She was born November 10, 1926 to Herbert William and Clara Olivia Garrett, in Newark, Alameda County, California. She married Dannie Arlin Potter on March 28, 1947. He passed away June 29, 2010.
Mary had a great love for her family; her home was filled with pictures of the people she loved. She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister and friend. One of Mom's great joys was working in the yard; she knew exactly what she wanted and how she wanted it to look. She was happy when her hands were working the soil. She enjoyed sewing, working with plastic canvas and has shared many fruits of her labors with loved ones around her. She also enjoyed reading romance novels, and spent many hours playing FreeCell as her health declined. Mom was easy to love, everyone who met her commented on her beautiful smile, and her beautiful hair. She was a great example of perseverance in the midst of difficult challenges. We will miss her greatly but we know she's with Dad and free from discomfort. The family would like to thank the many doctors and nurses who have cared for Mom.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, her parents, and a brother, Harry Garrett. Survived by her children, Carol (Dick) Lorange, Vancouver, WA, Connie (Edward) Whicker, Roosevelt, Cathy Godfrey, Salt Lake City, Michael (Jonalee) Potter, Hillsboro, OR, ten grandchildren, twenty-one great- grandchildren, and two great, great-grandchildren. Siblings, Beverly Frankland, Dorothy (Don) Robinson, James (Bonnie) Garrett, Gayle (Floyd) Brotherson, Fred (Joyce) Garrett, Elaine (Hyrum) Reich.
A graveside service will be held Friday, October 19, 2012, 2:00p.m. at the Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South, Sandy, Utah. A viewing will be from 12:30p.m. to 1:45p.m. prior to services.
