1977 ~ 2013
Matthew Lee Nichol was born January 28,1977 in Salt Lake City, UT. With a sober heart and mind, he moved into the next life on July 3, 2013. Matthew was 36. He is survived by his parents, Carmen R. and Lynn M. (Nic) Nichol, sister, Kristen Randak (Paul), brother, Mark (Cerise), nieces & nephews, Patrick (Anna), John, Susan, Madeleine, Taylor, Lauren, Matthew, Kaeden, Brendan, Connor, and Eris. He is also survived by friends of Bill W. everywhere.
Matthew was a life enthusiast whose passions included skiing, rock climbing, and the outdoors. Matthew Lee was a beloved son, brother, uncle and friend. Matty was a biker, poet, ninja, cowboy, spirit walker, skater, adventurer, fire keeper, and mountain man. Walking the Warrior's Path, Matty was a friend to everyone. Matthew's unmistakable crooked smile and loud laughter brightened every room and life he touched. Uncle Matt loved fiercely, and most paramount were his nephews and nieces. Matty will be missed by all.
Please share with us the celebration of his precious life. A viewing will be held Monday, July 8 from 6:00-7:30pm, followed immediately by a sober wake with an open mic from 7:30-9:00pm at Jenkins-Soffe Mortuary (1007 W. S. Jordan Parkway). Memorial Services will be Tuesday, July 9 at 11:00am at the Silver Lake LDS Chapel (8076 S. Big Cottonwood Canyon Road, Brighton), followed immediately by a memorial walk around Silver Lake (approximately 12noon). Interment held at Mountain View Memorial Estates (3115 E. Bengal Blvd) at 2:00pm. Online condolences at www.jenkins-soffe.com.

Matt made the class we shared at SLCC more enjoyable and livened up each discussion. His enthusiasm was contagious. When we worked on a project together he told me how much he admired his dad. The world is a better place because he was here and I am sorry for the students who will never hear him recite "Tikki Tikki Tembo" or have him teach them about English Literature. He was an amazing person who touched my life.
