Maureen Van Leeuwen Obituary

Maureen L. Van Leeuwen "Nana" Maureen L. Van Leeuwen, our most cherished and loved wife, mom, grandma, sister, and friend passed away peacefully on Sept. 21, 2006 surrounded by her loving family. Mom was born on Oct. 29, 1946 in Jersey City, New Jersey daughter of Bartley and Dorothy McCarrick. Mom brought love, joy, and friendship to all who knew her and she was always there to lend a helping hand. She married Douglas Dobson and had three children and later divorced. She then met the love of her life Keith Van Leeuwen and married in 1985. Keith had two children of his own and our family grew. She became a grandma to three beautiful grandchildren who were the light of her life and she wanted them near as much as possible, they'll miss her dearly. Mom enjoyed spending time with her husband camping, hunting, fishing, and enjoying the outdoors. She also loved spending time doing her crossword puzzles. She is preceded in death by her mom and dad and is survived by her loving husband Keith, her children Colleen (Steve) Patchin, Las Vegas, Carl Van Leeuwen, Doug Dobson, Jr., Sharyn (Steve) Weiser, Karen (Jon) Henderson, her sister Barbara (Bill) Lunz, Little Silver N.J., and her three little angels Athena (Las Vegas), Hunter, and Haley. Mom was a survivor and we are grateful for what we have learned from her and all that she has done for us. She was a wonderful mom, great wife, and an extraordinary Nana! Mom, we will miss you and love you forever! The family wishes to extend its thanks to all of her doctors and the nursing staff at Lakeview Hospital who helped ease her pain and ours; we can't thank you enough for your support and willingness to do whatever needed to be done, Thanks. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Monday, September 25, 2006 at 10 a.m. at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 1800 South Orchard Drive in Bountiful. A Vigil- Prayer service will be held, Sunday, September 24, 2006 at 7 p.m. where friends may call from 6-7 p.m. also at the church. Directors Neil O'Donnell and Sons

To My Other Family,
Thank you for sharing your mom with me and for always being there for me. Mom was an amazing woman and I am so thankful for the love she gave to me all through the years. I am so lucky to have had another mom as wonderful as her. Thank you for letting me be a part of your family. I am so lucky to have another dad, older sister, 2 older brother, 1 younger sister and most importantly my best good friend. I love you all dearly. You are in Rob and my prayers.

I have known Maureen for approximately 24 years. She was a very kind, understanding and devout Catholic. She has been a wonderful and true friend to the end. She and her loving family have helped me through a divorce and took me and my children under her and her family's wing.

We had some great times helping with St. Olaf's Entertainment Nite.

She was a true friend and confidant and a great comfort during the illness and eventual passing of my second husband.

She and her family were also very instrumental in my third marriage and we will miss her dearly.

Our love and sympathy to Maureen's family. She was indeed a specil lady. I am grateful that I was able to see her and speak with her before she went into the hospital. They were our neighbors many years ago and it was then that we learned to love her family and to appreciate her strength in trials. Thanks for remembering us.
