Michael Pendleton Obituary

Michael D. "Spike" Pendleton He's Gone 1962 ~ 2007 RICHFIELD, UTAH - Our beloved husband, father, son and friend, passed away February 17, 2007 due to a tragic accident - an avalanche while snowmobiling with his buddies on Cove Mountain. Mike was born July 19, 1962 in Boise, ID to Don and Elizabeth "Lisa" Demick Pendleton. He attended schools in Portland, OR; Vernal, UT and graduated from Richfield High in 1981. He married Kathryn Morrow on March 19, 1983 in Richfield. He has been employed by Robinson Transport in Salina for over 22 years, a job he thoroughly enjoyed and bragged about having the best of the best cohorts driving with him. Mike was a kind, compassionate, fun loving person who loved his fellow man, always ready to help others (especially in repairing snowmobiles or 4-wheelers). He was a member of the Central Utah Backcountry Horsemen, the Skyline Snow Riders and also a member of a local ATV club. His wife, Kathy was always by him, through thick and thin, and there was a lot of both; he so loved her. His son, Christopher, was one of his best companions; they spent many hours together working on cars, trucks and their "boy toy machines". His daughter Whitney was another big delight in his life; he so loved attending her drill team performances, proudly wearing his "RHS Azurette Dad" shirt. Another of Mike's favorite pastimes were spent with his dad hunting, especially when he could ride his horse "Little Bit". Whenever he passed his parents' home he would always blow his air horn so that his mom would know he was on his way home. He is survived by his wife, Kathyrn; son, Christopher and daughter, Whitney; parents, Don and Lisa, all of Richfield; sister, Peggy (Roger) Pettis of Camp Verde, AZ and Godmother, Marianne Taylor of Central Valley. It was positively overwhelming to see how many volunteers turned out to search for Mike. The Sevier County Search and Rescue, Sheriff's Office and the many, many snowmobilers, some being turned away, we would just love to give you all a big hug and do thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, February 22, 2007 at 11:00 a.m. in the Richfield 1st LDS Ward Chapel, 985 South 400 West. Friends may call at the Magleby Mortuary on Wednesday evening from 6 to 8 p.m. and at the ward chapel on Thursday from 9:00 to 10:30 a.m. Burial will be in the Richfield City Cemetery. Skyline Sno-riders Snowmobile Club Darlene Mortensen

March 17, 2007

The Skyline Sno-riders are extremely saddened that the Poker Ride in Fairview to honor Mike had to be canceled today due to awful snow conditions. It has been so hot, the snow is slushy. We will re-schedule the ride to honor Mike during the Fairview Winter Festival, the last Saturday of January 2008! We hope all of his family and friends will come and join us on that ride to honor Mike. We will really miss having Mike ride with us on his snowmobile. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family. He was a wonderful man. He will be missed so very much.

Don and Lisa, I'll never forget all the times we shared camping at the pond and riding three-wheelers and all the times we shared hunting and fishing with Spike. I am glad my wife was able to buffalo hunt with Spike and get to know him and how wonderful of a person he was. Spike always made those desert trips special.

To the family of my Godson, Spike.
I will always keep a special place in my heart for the sounds of Spikes' laughter, and all the countless number of emails I received from him. Some of them seemed to make my day. Pegs, you will have to carry on.
