Michael Stack Obituary

1960 ~ 2020
Michael William Stack, 59, passed away unexpectedly in June 2020. Mike was born November 29, 1960 to Richard A. and Ferris Lee Stack in Ogden, UT.
Mike loved adventure especially in the high mountains of Wyoming with his dog Lupus at his side. Hiking, backpacking, building and riding mountain bikes were his favorite pastimes early in life; he was a picture of beauty to watch ski down the mountains on his backcountry skis. Later in life he discovered the beauty of Asia, enjoying many a sunset on gorgeous beaches.
He loved his family especially his son Dylan. Mike's adventures led him to befriend many families in far away places, welcoming him as their own son. Mike attended Woods Cross High School and later attended Salt Lake Community College and the University of Utah. Early in Mike's career he was an electronics technician and later he excelled as an engineer in the semiconductor industry introducing him to travel abroad.
Preceded in death by his mother and father, Mike is survived by his son Dylan Stack, his sister Terri Anne Stack O'Sullivan (Ray) and his brother Richard David Stack (Elisabeth).
His passing has left a large hole in the lives of his family and friends. Memories and condolences may be shared at MountainVistaChapel.com, of Ely, NV.

Dave and Terri,
I am so sorry to hear about Mike. I always remember what a kind and gentle man he was. Also, the most incredible athlete I havent seen Mike in over 30 years, but I always remember what am impact he had on my life, teaching me to love the outdoors, to ski and to backpack. I remember he bought one of the first mountain bikes every made back when taking a bike off pavement was unheard of. Such a unique person, I am heartbroken to hear of his passing. Please take care, my deepest sympathy to you and your families.

Terrie, Dave- My Deepest condolences to you both, wishing you some peace.

Mike was my best friend for the better part of 47 years, 7th grade until approximately 12 years ago when he left for Asia. I had tried for several years to reach out to find him. I hope he knew how much I still cared about him

So many memories of adventures. Skiing, fishing, motorcycling, camping, scouts, bicycling, old trucks, and all the friends and adolescent mischief we could handle with school and work.
He was indeed a hard worker.
With his athleticism and skill, I was always the one trying to keep up, rarely besting him. He challenged me and I loved his friendship. He was gentle, calm and quiet, even when I saw him upset. It hurts me to think he suffered in any way as he was such a good person

We were together when I met Carolyne my wife. I owe so much to him.
My love of skiing, outdoors, Wildlife & the environment are all from years we spent As friends together

To Dylan, I only met you a few times when you were about 3, and I am Truly sorry time with your dad was cut short. Wishing you peace.

-I miss you my friend, until we meet again.
