Mildred Day Obituary

1926 ~ 2017
Our loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother, Great Great Grandmother, and friend Mildred Tripp Day passed away May 8, 2017 at her home in North Salt Lake. Millie was born May 7, 1926 to Leroy Charles and Victoria Tripp in Salt Lake City, UT. Millie married her high school sweetheart Willis Erwin Day June 6, 1941 in Evanston, Wyoming later solemnized June 16, 1947 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
She is survived by four children: David Day, Dennis (Cindy) Day, LaRaine (Frank) Grisham, Diane (Ralph) Crook, 21 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren. Proceeded in death by her husband Willis, 2 grandsons, and 2 great granddaughters.
Mom retired from Beneficial Life Insurance Company after 43 years of service and Hiller Industries after 20 years of service. Mom was a devoted and faithful member of the LDS church. She served in the New Zealand Temple mission, which was a "choice, choice" experience in her life. Upon returning home she served many years in the Bountiful Temple.
Mom also had the opportunity to be of service in the 2002 Winter Olympics, another highlight in her life. Mom traveled the world with her dear friends and family. She loved to camp at Uinta River, deer hunt in Salina, and spend time at the cabin in Bear Lake with her family. Our mother and grandmother had such strength and integrity; words could never express how much we love and will miss her.
Funeral services will be held Friday May 12, 2017 at the LDS Orchard 3rd ward building, 261 East Center St, North Salt Lake, UT 84054 at 11:00 am with a viewing Thursday night from 6:00-8:00 pm and Friday morning from 9:45-10:45 at the same location. Hey Grandma, happiest birthday tomorrow!! I´m going through a hard time right now, I miss you so much. I´m hoping you know that mom has passed over too. It´s been about 34 days now. It´s been catching me walking down memories or wishing I could just talk to you guys again. Sucks so much! You are officially invited to dinner tomorrow, I´m making your favorite-spaghetti, yum! It snowed and dad plants some hyacinths this year, so we have snow-cones, love it. Mom also sent a parting gift just for laughs but I think I´m just going to fill the planters full of them. She ordered 4 purple petunias for the garden this year. I always told you they look like such a sad flower...this year they set the mood of this houses occupants. Sending you all my love and aloha!!! Nana.. I miss you so much, my nights have been lonely without having you to visit. You eased the emptiness of Justin being out of town by allowing B and I to spend our nights with you. I know you are finally with grandpa and with my girls... I will cherish every memory with my ornery old cuss... rest in love... Venette, Justin and Brandon Thompson
