Hi, Nyla,
I'm sorry to hear about the passing of Noel. We were the same age but due to the death of my twin brother Jay Jenkins I stayed out a year and graduated in 1953 instead of 54. I remember Noel very well and I don't know if you remember but my father played the drums in your dad's band, way back.
I see your brother Spence Hyde on Tuesday mornings in the Joseph Smith Memorial Building as I have been there some nearly 12 years as a Host.
All my love,
Kay D. Jenkins

Nila and family, I still smile when I think about the 1978 CRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity and the kidding Ed Johnson and I got from Noel for always having the Paint in the wash rack. He was a genuine good man with a big heart, a teacher, a trainer of horses and horsemen and a true gentleman. May God comfort you and yours at this saddest of times.

As a young girl, with much to learn on my horse, I had the opportunity to have lessons from Noel while he was in Birdseye. We traveled two hours one way to receive direction from Noel. One time my friend and I even pulled a camper down and stayed at the arena for a week to help out and absorb his knowledge. He taught us many lessons. I will always be grateful for his knowledge, patience, kindness, helping me gain confidence while riding and most of all his example. I can remember him coaxing me, "Ride... Ride... Ride!" My condolences to his family. You are all in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you so much for sharing him with all of us "students" through the years.

Noel is and will always be my fathers idol. My dad took lessons from Noel when I was too young to retain memory, but I do remember the many times my father taught me some of the lessons he learned many years ago. I was lucky enough to learn a few things from Noel; my only regret is that I didnt learn more. He will always be remembered in my family as a great horseman and also a great man. Thank you Noel

Up in the saddle he rode tall,
As he worked he’d see the sun rise and fall,
Ride cowgirl ride, I will never forget,
The words of a man, who taught us all.
In his heart he was humble and meek,
And with such passion he would speak,
Ride cowgirl ride, I will never forget,
The quality of a man who was so unique.
Now the sun rises on a different kind of day,
And finds that he has gone away,
Ride cowgirl ride, I will never forget,
And in our hearts he will always stay.
Noel was such a great and wonderful man. I will be forever in debt to him for all that he taught me in life. My condolences to the entire Skinner family.

Noel Skinner. What a man! It's been many years since I saw Noel last. Needless to say, he left a lasting impression on me. I knew Noel during my high school years. He always personified hard work and charity whenever I was in his presence. He was always kind to me. Most folks would cringe at the sight of half a dozen teenagers UFCing in the front room or working on trucks late at night into the early hours of the morning. Not Noel. Everytime I saw him, he was always kind and seemed pleased that youth sought sanctuary at his home. The generosity he and Nyla showed to me and my friends at such a pivotal time in our lives has, and will always have, a lasting impact on my life. Thank you Noel! Blessings to you and your sweet wife, Nyla, forevermore.

We are all better people for having known Noel. He was an amazing man. He didn't speak much, but when he did it was always the perfect thing to be said. He always lifted people up. Jamey asked that I mention that Noel always had the best candy stash in the side table next to his recliner. He will be missed by many, but I am sure that he wouldn't want people to mourn for him too long. He would want everyone to go out and grab life by the horns. We love you!!!!!

Every story I tell of Noel is of the Best Horse Trainer the US has ever known. I am so thankful and blessted to have known and worked with Noel at the ranch in Indianola. Not only did he teach me of horses but morals and values. A better mentor I have never known. My high school memories are everything of "Willies Ranch" and learning from Nole. Noel still touches my life everyday...I ride the horse he found for me, I ride in the saddle we bought after he won one on Omino. My first heeler, Possom...first time I rode a cutting horse in the Simmons-Wiberg barn in Layton. Grandpa Skinner. My memories go back 38 years when he taught me most of what I still use today. I was always proud to say that I got to work for Noel Skinner. What a huge priviledge that was!! I still have great friends that I met because of Noel. Dear Nyla and kids...my thoughts are with you, they'll always be with Noel. Much love. Amy

What a great example of how one man can touch the lives of so many and turn their lives around. Although no man is perfect we see the effects of a Christ like life on the world as Noel's life has literally touched people every where. To have known him was a privilage, to have been taught by him a blessing and to have felt his love a life changing experience. May I live my life to follow his example and make him proud.

My prayers are with the Skinner family in your time of grief. Words cannot express the emptiness I feel with his passing. Noel taught me horsemanship but more importantly, he taught me about life. Noel Skinner "The Man the Legend" touched my heart and the heart of my husband more than words can ever say. I looked to him as my second Dad and I feel very privileged to have had the pleasure to get to know Noel and Nyla along with some of the other family members as well as we did. My family says he saved my life with the things he taught me. He will forever be missed but always remain a part of my heart and family. Heaven just got the best horse trainer ever........

He is now home with his Heavenly Father and I hope to be able to see him one day. Rest In Peace Noel; you will be greatly missed but never forgotten.
