Paul Sauer Obituary

January 1, 1924 - February 10, 2013
Paul R. Sauer, age 89, a devoted husband and father, and last of his generation, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2013. He was born January 1, 1924 to Carl W. and Grace H. Sauer in Albion, CA. He spent his youth in Fort Bragg, CA. He was Valedictorian of his high school class. Paul attended the University of California Los Angeles and graduated from UC Berkeley in 1946. Commissioned early in WWII as an Ensign and Boat Officer, he participated in landing troops at Lingayen Gulf, Marseilles (Bataan), Corregidor and Okinawa.
After WWII and finishing his degree at Berkeley, he attended the Boalt Hall of Law at UC Berkeley. Wanting to explore a passion for music and playing the piano, he attended the Conservatory of Music, Cincinnati. It is there he met the love of his life Mary Alis Lemmons, a Masters' graduate from Julliard in Concert Piano. They were married June 25, 1950 in Gadson, AL.
Paul owned a very successful appliance and electronic store for 30 years in Marysville, CA. He retired in 1989 and he and Mary relocated to Sandy, UT. His wife, partner, best friend and our mother passed away in March of 2010.
We love and will miss you Dad. You were always there when we needed you. Your presence forever will be missed in our lives.
Paul is survived by his children Nancy Cahill of Walpole, NH, Paul Sauer II of Taylorsville, UT and David L. Sauer of Sandy, UT. He is also survived by his 5 grandchildren and one great-grandson. Preceded in death by his parents and brothers Carl and Howard, sister Frances.
Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, February 14, 2013 at Larkin Sunset Gardens, 1950 East 10600 South in Sandy. Visitations will be held Wednesday evening from 6-8 pm and one hour prior to the services. Interment Larkin Sunset Gardens. Online condolences welcomed at www.larkincares.com.
