Rhea R. Peterson 1914~2004  EPHRAIM: Rhea Peterson, 89, joyfully returned to her loving Heavenly Father January 4, 2004. Rhea was born to John Vernon Jones Rees and Eleanor Romero Rees on September 19, 1914 in Wales, Sanpete County, Utah. She was married to Carl LaRell Christensen, who passed away in 1943. She later married LeRoy E. Peterson. Rhea is preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, a sister, Verna Davenport, two sons, Glen S. Peterson, Dee Rees Christensen and three grandchildren. Rhea is survived by her sister, Katie Ma Vae Tervort, one daughter, Carol Carpenter, four sons, Ronald S. Peterson, John LaRell Christensen, Richard L. Peterson and Bruce R. Peterson, twenty-three grand children, forty great-grandchildren and eleven great -great-grandchildren. Rhea was an extraordinary woman who successfully knitted together four different and somewhat diverse fragments into a family unit, all of whom wee themselves as equal members of the one single family. Rhea has always been active in the LDS church. To her great joy, she was able to serve a mission in San Bernardino, California. She has worked in many auxiliaries and has served in several leadership positions including Relief Society president. She has been an exceptional example of faith, Christ-like love, and motherhood throughout her life, and will be greatly missed by her love ones hereon earth but warmly welcomed by those on the other side. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 10, 2004 at 11:00 a.m. at the Ephraim 6th Ward Chapel, 20 South Main, Ephraim. Friends may visit from 6-8 p.m. on Friday evening and again from 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. prior to services at the above location. Interment: Ephraim City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions be made to the Ephraim City Library, one of Rhea's great loves. The family would like to extend a special "thank you" to the wonderful staff at Woodland Park Care Center for their loving, tender and sensitive care of Rhea over the past two years and to our sister Carol who has devoted time each day to be with and care for "Mom."
