Richard Call Obituary

1935 ~ 2012
Richard "Dick" Call died at his home in Rancho Palos Verdes, California, surrounded by his family on Monday, September 24, 2012, after a long illness. He is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen, their daughters, Catherine (Mrs. Maksim) Rodzinek, and Alanna Call, both of Rancho Palos Verdes, California, and by daughters with his late wife, Carol Brunt, Lesli (Mrs. Greg) Walker of Island Park, Idaho, Laura (Mrs. David) Peters of San Clemente, California, and Karen (Mrs. Michael) Anderson of Granville, Ohio, two sisters, Jolene Clayton of Salt Lake City, Utah, and Sharon Call of Stinson Beach, California, six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, four nephews and a niece.
He was born in Preston, Idaho, the son of the late Elma Rowberry Call and Joseph Grant Call. Dick graduated from Idaho Falls High School in 1953. He was a graduate of George Washington University School of Medicine and completed an anesthesiology residency at LDS Hospital, Salt Lake City, Utah. Following medical training he served as a physician with the United States Navy. For many years he was a medical staff anesthesiologist at Bay Harbor Hospital, Lomita, California, moving to Little Company of Mary Hospital for the last several years of his career.
He loved his family, the island cabin in New Hampshire, and woodworking, making many museum quality pieces of period furniture.
Memorial services will be held at a later date.
