Dick was one of the facilitator's during the formative years of the Sperry Corporation here in Salt Lake City. It was during the period of growth to around 4800 employees in the period from 1958 to 1970 when Dick was the one who implemented many of the continueing education programs that built the research base for which Sperry was recognized in Salt Lake City. His interface efforts to harmonize the needs of the engineers with the colleges and universities in the area allowed any who wanted to improve their knowledge base and skills to do it with convenience to both the company and the employee. He knew and called everyone by name in his frequent walks through the work areas. I personally obtained an MSEE through his efforts to align the U College of Engineering requirments with the busy schedules we had for many years during the development of the Sergeant Missile System. Not only was he instrumental in helping the technical staff, but also the manufacturing, management, and support staffs. He was a "hands on" type of manager who made things happen - and to everyone's benefit.

Thanks, Dick. You helped many of us improve. We will pass your concern and helpfullness to others. May God bless your soul. We will meet again.
