Richard Cushing Obituary

Richard Barnett Cushing

In loving memory

Sandy, UT-Richard Barnett Cushing beloved father, grandfather, and friend, passed away on March 26, 2025 at the age of 86. Born in Garfield, Utah May 2, 1938. He worked for Kennecott Copper for 38 years as an electrician making lifelong friends along the way. He was the steady heart of our family, a man of few words but infinite depth, who led with strength, humility, and unwavering love. He is finally reunited with the love of his life, our step mother, Afton.

He was the truest example of unconditional love. Strong and stoic, stubborn in the best ways, he gave everything he had-his time, his sweat, his quiet wisdom-to support those he loved. A hard worker through and through, he never asked for anything in return, only that we show up for each other the way he always showed up for us.

To everyone who crossed his doorstep, he offered refuge-a warm place, a listening ear, and a heart that never judged. He understood how life could break a person, and more importantly, how love could bring them back to life. That was his quiet magic. He made people feel seen and safe.

He leaves behind his children, Mark Cushing (Joanne Amneteg) Bryan Cushing, Megan Narajowski, his grandchildren; Alex,Nicholas,Danielle,Haley,Sara,Oliva and his Daughter in law Diane Cushing-Gates.

Friends and family are all welcome as we gather to celebrate his life Saturday, April 26, 2025 at 60 East 11000 South 1:00PM.
