Richard Smart Obituary
Our beloved husband, father, grandfather and son passed away Monday night August 26th in the presence of all of his Family. Richard Lynn Smart was born on October 8th 1949 in Salt Lake City to Eldon Reid Smart and Phyllis Pyper Smart. He was a graduate of South High, served in the Marines during the Vietnam War and served an LDS mission to New Zealand. Rick was sealed to the love of his life Cheryl Ann Ord on June 15th 1974 in the Los Angeles Temple for all eternity.
He is survived by his dear Cheryl, with whom he enjoyed 39 wonderful years, his six children, 14 grandchildren, four brothers and his mother. He was preceded in death by his father and sisters Janet Smart Boyakin and Nicole Smart.
A Viewing will be held Thursday, August 29th from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at the Timpanogos 6th Ward, 332 East 500 North, Pleasant Grove, UT. Funeral Services will be held at the same location on Friday, August 30th at 12:00 Noon with a Viewing held prior from 10:30 am to 11:30 am. Interment in Pleasant Grove City Cemetery. Funeral Directors: Utah Valley Mortuary.

Cheryl and family, I got to know Rick at a work hardening clinic at Cottonwood Hospital in 1991 when we were sent there by UP. We became best buddies and I'm very saddened by his passing. My prayers are with you.

So sorry to hear of Rick's passing. We have fond memories of all the Smart family. Dave served as Eldon's counselor in the Wilson Ward Bishopric. Peggy served with Phyllis in Primary. Rick sold our house when we left the area. May the Lord be with you all at this difficult time. God bless you Cheryl & Phyllis and family. We love and miss you.
