Robert Lippold Obituary

Robert A. Lippold 2/22/1935 ~ 4/17/2008 Robert Alfred "Bob" Lippold, 73, a long-time resident of Carson City, Nevada, and native son of Salt Lake City, Utah, passed away on April 17, 2008 after a brief illness.Bob was born February 22, 1935 to Alfred and Marianne Lippold in Salt Lake City, Utah. He graduated from the University of Utah and would go on to earn a Masters Degree in Psychology. He was married to Bee Staheli and had two children, Kirk and Kelly. Blessed with a natural gift for helping others deal with the challenges of life, he was an active member of the Salt Lake Suicide Prevention Center, the Jaycees, and established a successful private practice. In 1970 he moved to Carson City, Nevada, accepting the challenging position as the first psychologist for the Nevada State Prison system. After several years he decided new adventures in life were in order, and with his family, he opened BBKK Rock & Silver Shop. He loved interacting with people and specialized in designing and creating custom-made high-quality silver and gold turquoise jewelry. Over the years, he continued to work in the field of corrections eventually becoming warden of Nevada's Women's Prison and the Maximum Security Prison in Carson City. His work would also take him to Olympia, Washington, and Las Vegas and Lovelock, Nevada. Bob will be dearly missed by his wife Kathy, sister Carol, son Kirk, and daughter Kelly, as well as the rest of his loving family. A Celebration of Life service will be held at his home in Carson City from 10-11 a.m. on Saturday, April 26, 2008. Friends and family are invited to share in this celebration. Bob loved the miniature railroad in his backyard. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Nevada State Railroad Museum in Carson City, Nevada. FitzHenry's Funeral Home and Crematory is caring for the arrangements.

I had the great pleasure to work with Bob, off and on, for many years when I was a consultant for the Nevada Department of Prisons. To me, he fit the description of a perfect gentleman....impeccably dressed, pleasant, cheerful, good sense of humor, and a professional at work. Great guy! My condolences to the family in their time of grief.

This is an interesting coincidence--my busband's brother Kenneth Lippold of American Fork, Utah died this morning early. A friend from Salt Lake called when she read your obituary to express her sympathy and we had just received the call that Ken had died. You have our sympathy--we probably are related somehow. Is your son Kirk the Navy officer? My husband Jack Lippold who was born in 1935 too is a retired Air Force pilot.
