Robert Shaw Obituary

Robert Willard Shaw 10/31/1938~10/30/2007 LAYTON - Robert Willard Shaw, 69, Today I started my trip across the river to the other side. In my prayer, I asked God to send me a donkey, if I needed help, to get me to the other side of the river. On the other side of the river, I will wait for my little bride of 50 years, JoAnne Brown. We were married in Salt Lake City, Utah on February 8, 1957. Our friendship began in April of 1954 and we have been together ever since. I was born on a dark, wild Halloween night in my grandmother's parlor to Douglas M. Shaw and Edith Tripp. A graduate of Granite High School in 1957. I retired from Smith's Food & Drug in the fall of 1999. I was in the food business for 48 years. My most exciting years were opening new stores and flying in the company jet. I loved being in the mountains and being on the water in my boat, sharing it with my daughters and grandchildren. I leave behind my wife, Jo; my daughters, Debra (Blake) Thomas, Sherri (Kevan) Nilsson, adopted daughter Denise King, seven grandchildren, Jaime Dansie, Jeremy (Cari) Dansie, Megan (Jeff) Stone, Candace (Cory) Kougioulis, Janessa (Derek) Deviny, Heather (Chad) Anderson, and Tyrell (Laurel) Nilsson, 10 great-grandchildren, Nicholas, Jordan, Camry, CJay, Wyatt, Audrey, Alexis, Kolten, and Gianna, as well as Natalia who shares her grandpa's birthday, brother John (Diane) Shaw and sister Sharon (Sonny) Zirker. Services to celebrate my life will be held on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 2 p.m. at the Evergreen Chapel-Dawson Hollow Ward, 2435 East Canyon Rim, Layton, Utah. Cremation under the direction of Myers Roy Mortuary. Send condolences to family at www.myers-mortuary.com

Grandpa I miss you so much. I hope that God did send you your donkey, although, donkeys can't swim so I hope you found a good use for him anyway. You were such a funny guy right to the end. I don't think any of us will forget how you scared the poo out of Blake and tried to bit everyone. May God watch over you and may you find happiness on the other side of the river.

I can see Bob on the other side of the pearly gates speaking his odd hybrid of the Romance (emphasis on French)languages, and welcoming guests to his grand celebration in the heavens. We love you and will miss you and your wonderful smile! Alan Chow and family
