1944~2016
Sandy, UT-Robert Harry Shelton, age 72 died on July 17, 2016 in Sandy, Utah, peacefully at home, surrounded by his family. He was born on June 8, 1944 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Joseph Harry and Caroline Mable Fullmer Shelton. He married Elizabeth Blake on April 24, 1975 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints and he served a mission in Northern California. He loved fly fishing; gardening; training horses and dogs; and ballroom dancing. He taught at Jordan High for 17 years and finished his teaching career at Union Middle.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Elizabeth; children: Jason Blake (Kimberley); Carol Lee; Christie Lynn Thompson (Joel); Emily Beth Nielsen (Greg); daughter-in-law, Shayla and 12 grandchildren. Siblings: David (Nadine); Carolyn Beckstead (Loren); Donna Stewart; Mary Jane Lenzi (Gary) and Ruth Ann Saxon (Gary) and many beloved nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his son, Jeffrey Robert and his parents.
Funeral Services: Saturday, July 23, 2016 at the Sandy Utah Granite South Stake 2126 Gyrfalcon Drive (10000 South), Sandy, Utah 11:00 a.m. Viewing from 9:30-10:30. Viewing Friday, July 22, 2016, 6:00-8:00 at Mountain View Memorial Estates 3115 East 7800 South. Interment will be at the Salt Lake City Cemetery.

Dear Shelton family,
We send our love and condolences to you. We would have attended the funeral; however, Mary was very ill and almost met Bob over there. I did not tell her about Bob's passing away for a few days because she was very sick. When I told her, she said, "Good for him. He should not have to suffer."
I have fond memories of Bob. I remember how he used to play with our children when they were small. I could tell that he would become a loving father. We spent some time fly fishing and trying new fly patterns. He always had some good ones that really worked. I admired his attitude toward work. He was always either working or playing at his best. I have missed him since we moved to Arizona and will continue to remember the good times we had together. He was a good bother in law.
Our prayers are with you and hope you will feel the Savior's love and trust in his redeeming power and the resurrection.

Liz and family, I just saw Bob's obituary today. I'm so very sorry he had to leave so young. I was also taken back with the loss of Jeff. I lost my oldest son in April and it is the most difficult thing I have had to experience, ever. You have a wonderful family and I know they will be a comfort to you. I am so sorry I missed his service today. Maybe I can contact you when things settle a bit. Love and sympathy to each of you.

It has been many a year since I last saw "Bob". I married Rodney and DORA'S son Richard....and we used to see him at their home when we went to the Meat Market or at Shelton Reunions in Liberty Park. I so remember his Dad and Mom and family. So enjoyed reading of his life and his family. (Donna came to Cedar for Richard Williams funeral. Prayers for you from remembrance of a dear family, and for your now family.

I so enjoyed talking with Bob in the LMC at Union during his final years there. Lively conversationalist about many things including gardening. He gave me a start of some glorious red-orange poppies that still add color to our yard each year. Will miss him.
