Robin Bennion Obituary

Dr. Robin Winnifred Gray Bennion

1932 ~ 2024

EMBARKING on her latest adventure, Dr. Robin Winnifred Gray Bennion departed this world to explore the Undiscovered Country on January 17, 2024.
Arriving in Salt Lake City on January 4, 1932, she grasped life with both hands, and spent a childhood as idyllic and charmed as can be imagined. Roaming the Avenues with a gang of friends, accompanied by her lamb Bluebell, and hunting dog Hal; devoted to her parents, cousins Mimi,Gay and Raynor Smith, Barbara Hewlett, and beloved Gran Gran and Auntie.
A traditional ""army brat:, she and her mother followed her father around the country prior to WWII.
Robin's interests, activities and talents are almost too numerous to list. Music was a cherished passion, including singing and playing her violin with groups and organizations all over the state including Salt Lake Symphony, Utah Opera Chorus, musical theater at the University and in the community, and in later years volunteering at the Joseph Smith Building.
Her skiing abilities were legendary, an alternate for the US Olympic Team she skied well into her 60's. A member of the original company that later became Ririe woodbury.
Education was important and was awarded 2 Master degrees and a doctorate, all while raising six independent and diverse children.
Exploring the world included travels all over the world and throughout the US and Canada, herding her children in a trailer across the country, she made a point of exposing them to every possible site and location. Wherever she went, she embraced the culture and experiences, inevitably returning with treasures that filled her home with memories.
Lifelong associations with friends included groups Alpha Chi Omega, Great Books, Literary Club, Music Circle, Opera Appreciation, The Lunch Bunch. Numerous appointments in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints gave her pleasure and satisfaction.
