Rodger Weaver Obituary

Rodger Lee Weaver

1944-2022

Portland, OR—Rodger Lee Weaver died aged 77 on March 13, 2022 in Portland, OR. He was surrounded by his loving wife Joy Weaver, and daughters Kate and Gina Weaver. He is also survived by his beloved grandkids Veronica and Owen Weaver Takenaka, siblings Caroll Marchand, David Weaver (Karen), and Janet Beasley (Keith), and dear friends Bonnie Rock, Jim Rafferty, and Sam Liebelt.

Rod's parents Edwin and Minnie Weaver welcomed him to their family on September 4, 1944. His siblings remember him as the center of neighborhood kids' games, making sure even the youngest kids were involved. He weathered a neck-break in his late teens, and a car maintenance accident, to marry Joy in 1968 and earn his PhD in Economics from the University of Utah in 1974.

Rod was generous with support to causes dear to him, including Shriners, school and community center construction in Belize, Red Cross blood deliveries, and Team Rubicon, a veteran support organization.

He had a heart for adventure, travelling the world, hiking across the Southwest, and bicycling across northwest Portland.

His last days were filled with daily phone calls with his siblings, hugs from his grandkids, daughters, and wife, and care from Ivy Court and Providence Hospice.

We love you Paipai.

Just reflecting again on how Rodger was one of my key mentors at PacifiCorp. I recognize and appreciate his influence all the more as time goes by.

My deepest condolences to the Weaver clan. Every summer in our early teens he showed me right from wrong. Without those summers.....who knows what might have been.
