Ronald Hall Obituary

Ronald Henry Hall, age 77, of Chloride, Arizona passed away May 10, 2017 after a short but valiant fight with cancer.
Ron was born April 13, 1940 in Kingman, Arizona to Ellen Bacon and Kenneth Hall and raised in Chloride, Arizona. In his 20s, Ron loved jumping out of airplanes for the U.S. National Guard Special Forces, becoming a Jumpmaster. Ron spent almost 40 years in Salt Lake City, Utah, raising his family, running his business, and caring for his beautiful gardens. He was a wonderful father to four daughters and loved being involved in their lives, particularly as a longtime soccer coach for their teams. He was able to share his love of soccer and life with many girls over the years and had a great impact on many lives.
Ron's career in the concrete business spanned several companies and culminated in his own business, Concrete Solutions, which he ran with his family for many years while lending his concrete expertise and leadership talent to the American Concrete Institute.
In 1997, Ron took a life-changing bicycle trip throughout Europe. Bicycle touring became an important part of his life, and in 1999, he rode across the United States, from Delaware to San Francisco, with his wife. They served as foster parents for countless homeless animals for the Humane Society of Utah.
In 2011, Ron and his wife retired to his hometown of Chloride, where he loved to ride his bicycle in the desert with their dogs, Ginger and Nellie, and again volunteered the majority of his time for civic causes.
Ron is loved and survived by many family and friends including his wife, Irene Weber, daughters Sue Hall, Sydney Dawn "DJ" Hall, Christy (Trevor) Hoffman, and Lara (James) Moberg, nine grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, sister Sandy Schoenrock, brother Jay Combs, and former wife and lifelong friend Linda Browning Hall.
Ron's ashes will be scattered in the Cerbat Mountains near Chloride - the place he loved most. A celebration of his life will be held at a later date in Chloride as well as in Salt Lake City, Utah.

I was sorry to hear of Ron Hall's passing. Years ago, when he was active in the ACI Intermountain Chapter, I had the honor to work with him; I learned a lot. In the often hectic and hard driving construction world, he could see the other side of life; I remember the "Random acts of kindness" on his business cards. He and his family will be in my prayers. I would also like to thank the Chapter for emailing the announcement to me. I would not have seen an orbit. in a SLC newspaper.

My name is Ken Anderson. I met Ron at age 15(1985). He was consulting my fathers testing business for Delta Airlines Hanger project, SLC. I was young, but I always will remember his teachings, advise, kindness, and firmness. He chewed on me multiple times, to teach me and guide, never out of anger. I have so much respect and treasure the knowledge he passed to me. He was huge influence in my life and my career. I have not, or will never forget him.

To me, Ron was first a soccer coach and mentor, later a friend, and eventually one of my "dads". I have been blessed with countless memories of this guy stopping to appreciate the small things in life. He taught me to embrace the journey, not just hurry to the destination. It was tough to appreciate that in those teenage years, but I can look back now with a smile. He was genuinely interested in the narrative -- of individuals, of places and of things. I remember trips to get soft-serve ice cream or hot chocolate after soccer, then later visits over coffee. Our visits with he and Rene in Chloride were extra special. I am grateful for all the time I got to share space and laugh with this very special "dad" of mine. I loved him and will miss him dearly. Love and biggest hugs to Rene and all the family, who live his legacy beautifully everyday.

Ron was such an amazing man, a wonderful neighbor. It's too early for him to leave us all. I have so many fond memories and pictures of him, Irene and their pets as well as foster animals. When Ron walked all the animals followed in line. And it was like he could make any dead plants bloom. I felt safe and secure because Ron watched over the neighborhood. Once he was concerned and came over to see my presence when the large truck drove into my driveway. When my sprinkler wasn't functioning right he noticed it for me. When my gate latch was broken he fixed it for me while I was traveling. Because of him I have a nice back yard fence, nicer functioning bathroom sink, and pretty backyard with many plants he and Irene planted. Uneven surfaces were covered with dirt he made from compost. I can keep going on forever. His presence is missed greatly and my thoughts are with Irene and family.
