ROSS WEYLAND Obituary

Ross Weyland Dear Old Dad Ross Weyland, 79, passed away on 10/10/10. He was born the 13th child of Earl Bernard and Ida Virginia Weyland. Ross was married to Edna Latham Weyland for 59 years and together they raised six children, Betty, Kathie, Viola, Doreen, Rick, and Terrie. Dad retired from Kennecott Copper after 31 years and then chose a career with Aliant Tech as a security guard for another 20 years. While at Kennecott Copper, he received his electrician's license from Salt Lake Community College (formerly Trade Tech). Dad was a hard worker and always provided for his family. He was an electrician, painter, insurance salesman, laborer, and gardener! He was a member of the FOE 3285. Dad loved a good laugh and never took himself too seriously. He enjoyed having his family around for the many dinners and celebrations on his fabulous patio. While he never took off his coat when visiting his children's homes, he always wanted them to stay as long as possible at his home. Dad is survived by his sister, Ruth (Nick) Rendina; brother-in-law, Ron Latham; five of his six children, Doreen Weyland, Betty (David) Anderson, Kathie (Paul) Lilenquist, Viola (Douglas) Bodrero, and Terrie (Roy) Williams; 13 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Dad is preceded in death by his wife Edna and his son, Rick. Years ago dad helped raise funds for the seeing-eye dog program and now through organ donation, he is able to donate his eyes. A visitation for family and friends will be held 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2010 at Peel Funeral Home, 8525 West 2700 South, Magna. A private family service will be held at a later time. Online condolences: www.peelfuneralhome.com In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the Primary Children's Medical Center, dad's favorite charity. In memory of our dad please enjoy a glass of wine; it doesn't matter if it is red or white, as dad believed there was no bad wine! Take Care, Have Fun, and Enjoy (Dad's favorite saying).

Dear Kathie, Betty, Viola, Terrie and Doreen,
You have all been through so much beginning with the death of Rick, your mom, and now your dad. I have never forgotten how much fun the big family get togethers were with all of the great food and chaos at the family home in Magna. Tim and Jake will miss it dearly. It has been a good part of their lives. Your dad was never anything but kind to me no matter what. I never saw him anything but positive and happy and I was so touched to see how much he loved your mom when she was sick. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with each of you during this difficult time.

Sorry for your loss. Ross was a godd friend and neighbor. I will always remember the times him and Poe sat around, toddy in hand, discussing how to fix the world, yelling so loud because neither of them could hear that well.Fun times.RIP
