RUTH LARSEN Obituary

Ruth Hale Larsen 7/23/15 ~10/26/10 The light which Ruth Hale Larsen brought wherever she was during her journey through mortality has been extinguished after 95 years. Her final words when her children told her they loved her were " I love you more." Those words characterize the life she led. Ruth was born in Oakley, Idaho on July 23, 1915 to Edward Hunter Hale and Gertrude Bates Hale who together had 11 children. She moved to Salt Lake City as a child with her family and attended West High School and LDS High School. After her mother's passing, her father married Joan Young Hale whom Ruth loved dearly and Joan and her son were fully part of their family. Ruth worked as a bookkeeper for many years at Montgomery Ward department store early in her career and later at Larry Pino Music Conservatory. She met her soul mate, Ralph LaVar Larsen in 1945 and it was truly love at first sight. They married February 6, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple and were members of the 21st North Ward. Sweethearts in mortality for 63 years until his passing on May 12, 2009, she has missed him every day since and now goes to join him. Our beloved mother and grandmother is survived by her daughter Susan Campbell (Galen) of Salt Lake City; her son Ralph David Larsen (Margaret) of Las Vegas, Nevada; and her son Charles Hale Larsen (Kendra) of Huntington Beach, California; as well as her siblings Emily Barber and Ellsworth Hale (Dorothy) and sisters-in-law Dorothy Hale and Marilyn Vom Dorp all of Salt Lake City. Her posterity includes 11 grandchildren and 11 great-grand-children all of whom loved her for her joy, kindness and unconditional love. The family extends heartfelt appreciation to the many caregivers who have been so wonderful to her. Funeral services will be held in the chapel at Redwood Memorial Estates, 6500 So. Redwood Rd., West Jordan, UT on Saturday, November 6th, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with a viewing preceding the service from noon until 1:45 p.m. Family and friends are invited to join us in celebrating her life. When Susan was dating Galen, I was introduced to this wonderful family. Ruth and Ralph were always kind, Ruth always had a spirited smile and spunky personality and her great attitude and outlook sustained her for a long and exuberant life. I can picture her bright twinkle in her eyes and smile now and know that she and Ralph are enjoying this time reunited. Colleen and I extend our love to all three of their children and their families. You/they have a great legacy, one to enjoy eternally with your families. Always make your parents proud of who you are. Life is short and the struggles we endure are not forever, eternity is. We have so much to look forward to in the relationships we develop now. I look forward to seeing Ralph and Ruth again. They are one of the wonderful examples to me I will always remember.

My dad was the Larsen's home teacher for a time when my family was in the North 21st ward. At times when he didn't want to go alone, I would go home teaching with him. I remember how warm the Larsen's home was, and it wasn't because of the furnace. It was because sister Larsen's smile and friendly nature lit up the room. I'm sorry for your loss!

I can't even put into words the love i had/have for this woman. The moment i started working at the Coventry, Ruth and Ralph were the first people to stand out to me. Not only did they shine as individuals, but their love had such a light that radiated through eachother and beamed through the eyes of everyone around them. They would come into the dining room holding hands and you knew that the love they had for eachother was just as strong as the day they fell in love. I can't emphasize enough how much I valued seeing that every single day and hope I have that same strong love Ralph and Ruth shared.
I unfortunately didn't get the opportunity to get to know Ralph very well, but luckily did get the opportunity to attain a wonderful loving friendship with Ruth that forever changed my life. Ruth, I can't thank you enough for the friendship you extended and shared with me and the example you were. I looked up to you in more ways that i could ever express and will never forgett the words we shared. I love you and will truly miss you. I look forward to seeing you on the other side.
