Shawn Weeks Obituary

"Key Robot"
Shawn Daniel Weeks, age 34, was finally released from years of pain and suffering when he died Friday, March 30, 2012.
He was born September 5, 1978 in Casper, WY, the adopted son of Jack and Judy Weeks. After his parents divorced, Shawn moved to Salt Lake City with his mother in 1983 and attended schools in the Granite School District, graduating from Granger High School in 1997. Married Shiena Brereton July, 2000; later sealed in the Salt Lake Temple. This union produced two precious boys; later divorced. Diagnosed with Crohn's Disease, constant pain was the norm. Even though he was tormented inside for the last few years of his life, Shawn had a gift for always putting a smile on the faces of others and bringing them joy. He liked nothing better than spending time with his boys, often expressed his feelings through poetry, and had a beautiful singing voice that will now be enjoyed by the angels. At an early age he found he could whistle and used the talent to summon the boys from where ever they were.
Survived by mother, Judy Weeks-Rohner; father, Jack W. Weeks Jr.; sons Parker Daniel and Braden Shawn; grandmother, Clara Rooks, Ft. Collins, CO; numerous aunts, cousins, half-sister, uncle and friends. Preceded in death by maternal grandfather and paternal grandparents and an uncle.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, April 5, 2012, 11:00 a.m. at the LDS Chapel, 3875 W. 4100 S. A viewing will be held Wednesday, April 4, 2012, 6-8 p.m. at McDougal Funeral Home, 4330 South Redwood Road and Thursday at the church, 10-10:45 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made at any Zions Bank to an education fund for the two most important people in his life-his sons, Parker and Braden. Interment, Valley View Memorial Park.

I will always remember the smile he had. He could light the whole world with it. He was loving and caring to everyone he came across. I will miss him greatly. I am so sorry for the pain his family has right now. But if it helps to know, he was loved by every one! God bless!

I thought it was pretty neat to grow up In the same neighborhood with Shawn and then end up living down the street from him again. I am going to miss his smile and wave when I drive by. His boys and his family are in my prayers.

Shawn & Judy lived just a few doors down the street from me. I remember Shawn as this happy kid who was full of energy and spunk. He had a gift for making others laugh as well as a kindness that made others know he had a big heart. As an adult he kept that same spunk and open heart. I was so sad to hear of his death. God bless you Judy and Shawn's boys and all of his friends and family. I'm sorry that I am unable to attend his funeral today. You will be in our prayers.

I would like Shawn's family to know how much he meant to our family. Our lives are better just having known Shawn. He turned my sons life around with his attitude and friendship. We are forever grateful. One thing Shawn taught my son was to not worry about what people did or said that was negative and hurtful. They say only the good die young and Shawn was such a good, caring person. He will forever be in our thoughts and never be forgotten. Shawn, you have definitely earned your wings.

Shawn,
You were my very first and best friend. You and your mom changed my life in so many beautiful ways. I will always remember your genuine smile and our shared love of music. I remember our concerts we would put on in your basement and backyard. And of coarse kick-the- nearly every night in the circle. I miss you dear friend, Rest in Peace.

I've known Shawn as long as I've known myself. I've always been able to look up to his positive attitude.

My funnest memory with Shawn is when he was called to be in young men's. He came camping with us at least once. He drove me and Nick Griffith to and from the campsite. He was really patient with us. I know we probably annoyed him, because that is what I did best as a teenager, but he never got mad or showed that he was mad.

I will always cherish the memories I have had with Shawn. They are many and varied, but always a good time.

Such great memories growing up in our neighborhood and playing kick the can in the circle across the street from your house. Shawn was always someone to say "hi" in the halls of West Lake and Granger and I knew I always had a friend with him! My heart feels so much pain for your family at this time. Just know that the Lord will take care of you and carry your burdens when the grief seems to heavy. To Shawn, watch over your family and friends and stay close! Give my dad a big bear hug for me!

I worked at Sears with Shawn. We seemed to be friends instantly. Shawn was that way with everyone. He had such a special smile and he gave it away freely to all. He will truly be missed. He had such a great love for his boys. They were his pride and joy. Thanks for your friendship Shawn. God bless.

Shawn was my first real friend outside of my family. We met at The Learning Tree Daycare when we were 5. He was my first sleepover, my first best friend. We shared a love of Denver Broncos Football, a vast love of music, and when we were younger, Star Wars toys (to this day Shawn is the only person I ever let play with my Darth Vader action figure!) When I was 8 years old and moved to new house with my Mother, I cried because I thought I'd never see Shawn again. But years later, we still had that same friendship. I will miss Shawn's smile the most. He always had a joke for everything. Always eager to please, to make you smile, and hug you til your ribs cracked. I love you my friend, and will miss you greatly.
